The Katipunan ng mga Sangguniang Mag-aaral sa UP (KASAMA sa UP) Alliance today positions itself from the strategic viewpoint of a system-wide body of student leaders and representatives continuously learning and analyzing the University and its conditions vis-ร -vis the Philippines and its broad education policies. Protecting the right to education, the alliance sees itself as a weapon to make a ch

ange and forge the future. The student councils of the alliance play an active part in the struggle for democratic rights and interests and in the shaping of UP history. The KASAMA sa UP develops the different campuses of the University as regional centers for the student sectoral and peopleโ€™s multi-sectoral movement. In coordinating the national campaigns, the KASAMA sa UP taps the regional centers of the University to disseminate the allianceโ€™s position and to involve the broadest number of students and sectors.

HANDS OFF UPD USC COUNCILOR-ELECT ANGEL LOPEZ! HANDS OFF STUDENT LEADERS!

HANDS OFF STUDENT LEADERS!
HANDS OFF ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENDERS!

In a time of worsening economic hardship, attacks on democratic rights, red-tagging and intimidation against students, and deepening political crises confronting the Filipino people, student councils cannot afford to remain isolated.

The National Executive Council (NEC) serves as the leading body of KASAMA sa UP in carrying forward the alliance's campaigns, consultations, and collective actions across the UP System. It links local struggles to systemwide action, strengthens coordination among councils, and ensures that the voices of the Iskolar ng Bayan are organized into a collective force for change.

Through consultations, solidarity campaigns, political education, alliance-building, and mass work, the NEC strives to uphold the democratic rights and welfare of students while advancing the broader interests of the Filipino people.

As we march toward the 50th National Congress, let us look back on the work that sustains our alliance and reaffirm the role of student councils not merely as administrative bodies, but as instruments of representation, organization, and struggle.

Tuloy-tuloy tayong makikipagkonsultahan upang magpalakas, magkaisa, at sumulong! โœŠ

The 46th National Executive Council of KASAMA sa UP stands in solidarity with the seven graduating students from the University of the Philippines Baguio who are currently facing delayed graduation following unresolved issues surrounding their internship program.

As the alliance of student councils across the UP System, KASAMA sa UP recognizes that this issue extends beyond a single course, department, or constituent university. According to the account released by the affected students through their campaign , the seven students rendered substantial internship hours under their initial placement before being terminated. Following this, they actively sought remedies through available university channels, pursued alternative placements, completed the required internship hours, and continuously appealed for reconsideration. Despite these efforts, they were ultimately issued failing grades that now place their graduation at risk.

While the circumstances surrounding the case continue to be discussed, one fact remains clear: students who have demonstrated good faith efforts to comply with academic requirements deserve to be heard, treated fairly, and provided transparent avenues for redress.

The concerns raised by the affected students also underscore the necessity of continually reviewing internship policies and practices to ensure that students are protected from arbitrary outcomes, are informed of their rights and responsibilities, and are given equitable opportunities to complete their academic requirements. As student leaders committed to advancing the rights and welfare of the studentry, we call on the concerned offices and authorities to ensure transparency and accountability in the processes and decisions related to the case; exhaust all possible avenues for a fair and compassionate resolution consistent with academic integrity and student welfare; and review existing internship policies and mechanisms to prevent similar situations from affecting other students in the future.

The University of the Philippines must remain steadfast in its commitment to honor, excellence, and service. These values are best reflected not only in the enforcement of academic standards, but also in the institution's capacity to listen, understand, and respond justly to the concerns of its students.

Let them sablay. Hear their calls. Uphold student welfare.
