TCC’s Project Kabataang Konektado Promotes Gender Awareness and Equality Through GAD Talks

MORONG, RIZAL — Tomas Claudio Colleges (TCC), guided by its commitment to Transform, Create, Conquer, supported the promotion of gender awareness and equality through Project Kabataang Konektado: GAD Talks Tungo sa Mulat at Pantay na Komunidad, held on October 17, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the DH Soriano Multimedia Hall (AVR).

The seminar was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Supreme Student Council of Leaders (SSCL) and the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) of Morong, Rizal. It aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of Gender and Development (GAD) and promote a more inclusive, respectful, and equitable community.

The activity focused on strengthening participants’ knowledge of fundamental GAD concepts, recognizing gender stereotypes and biases, respecting diversity, and understanding relevant laws, protection mechanisms, and appropriate responses to gender-related concerns.

The first session, “Understanding Gender and Development (GAD) Basic Concepts,” was facilitated by Dr. Arabella B. Pabilonia. The discussion covered the fundamental concepts of s*x and gender, as well as the different agents of gender socialization, including the family, school, media, church, and workplace.

It also examined the four manifestations of gender bias: stereotyping, marginalization, subordination, and multiple burden. The session concluded with an introduction to the local GAD framework, emphasizing the importance of identifying and addressing gender-related issues within the community.

The second session, “Gender Sensitivity Training,” was facilitated by Dr. Shielanie S. Dacumos. It explored gender expression, gender roles, and the evolving dynamics of gender roles and relationships over time. The discussion also highlighted the distinction between gender equity and gender equality and underscored the importance of gender mainstreaming in creating fair, respectful, and inclusive environments.

Through initiatives such as Project Kabataang Konektado, TCC continues to uphold its commitment to developing socially responsible, informed, and empowered individuals. By promoting gender sensitivity and equal opportunities, the institution encourages young people to challenge stereotypes, respect diversity, and take an active role in building a more inclusive and gender-responsive society.
