Northwest Samar State University โ San Jorge Campus successfully conducted an Earthquake Drill yesterday, December 10, at 9:00 a.m. as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and promote a culture of safety within the campus community.
The drill was facilitated by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) San Jorge, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) San Jorge. Their coordinated efforts ensured the realistic ex*****on of emergency procedures and provided valuable guidance to participants.
Students, faculty, and staff actively participated in the activity, demonstrating cooperation and awareness throughout the simulation. The drill familiarized the campus community with essential earthquake response protocols, including the โDrop, Cover, and Holdโ technique, proper evacuation routes, designated safe zones, and coordinated response measures.
According to organizers, the successful conduct of the drill highlights the shared commitment of the university and local agencies to disaster resilience. Activities like this reinforce preparedness and help ensure that the community is equipped to respond promptly and safely during actual emergencies.
