CSU-SM's RDE office is fully committed to supporting the National Coconut Farmers Industry Development Plan (CFIDP). Recognizing CSU-SM's expertise in coconut technology, the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) Region 2 has tapped the university to provide crucial training and technology demonstration for the development of coconut non-food products and by-products. This initiative aligns perfectly with CSU-SM's mission to promote sustainable development and economic growth through agricultural innovation.
On September 19, 2024, CSU-SM's extension workers, led by Mr. Rogie Gammino, conducted a comprehensive training program at the university's high-impact project production area. The training, attended by various beneficiaries and ATI personnel, focused on practical skills and knowledge related to the processing and production of value-added coconut products. Mr. Gammino, demonstrated various techniques for extracting and utilizing coconut by-products, such as coconut husk fiber, coconut shell charcoal, and other non food products.
This partnership between CSU-SM and ATI-RTC Region 2 underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering sustainable agricultural practices and empowering rural communities. This initiative is a testament to CSU-SM's commitment to the CFIDP program and its dedication to fostering a vibrant and prosperous coconut industry in the Philippines. By providing training and technology support, CSU-SM is playing a pivotal role in transforming coconut farming into a sustainable and profitable venture for Filipino farmers.
