The Office of Health Services Clinic will remain OPEN tomorrow, September 9, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, following its regular operating hours.

Students, faculty, and staff who need medical assistance or health services may visit the clinic during these hours.

☀️ STAY HEALTHY IN HOT WEATHER! 💧

As temperatures rise, let’s make simple, healthy choices to stay cool, hydrated, and safe! 🌿☀️

💧 Drink enough water — Aim for 8–10 glasses (about 2 liters) daily under normal conditions. During hot weather, increase your intake to 10–12 glasses (up to about 2–3 liters) of pure water, as needed.

👕 Wear the right clothes — Choose light-colored, loose-fitting, and breathable clothing. Use an umbrella or stay in the shade when outdoors. ☂️

🚫 Limit alcohol and caffeinated drinks — Choose water when rehydrating, especially during hot weather.

🧊 Listen to your body — Feeling dizzy, weak, unusually tired, or having a headache? Move to a cool place, rest, and drink water.

⚠️ Important: People with certain medical conditions may need fluid restrictions. Always follow your doctor’s advice.

🦟 DENGUE AWARENESS: HUWAG HINTAYING LUMALA.

May lagnat ka na ba? Kung 2 araw o higit na ang lagnat, MAGPA-CONSULT NA.

Ang dengue ay isang viral infection na naipapasa sa kagat ng infected Aedes mosquito. Hindi lahat ng lagnat ay dengue, ngunit mahalagang huwag itong balewalain dahil maaari itong lumala at maaaring lumitaw ang mga warning signs kahit bumababa na ang lagnat.

🔴 MGA KARANIWANG SINTOMAS NG DENGUE:
• Mataas na lagnat
• Matinding sakit ng ulo
• Pananakit ng katawan, kalamnan o kasukasuan
• Pananakit sa likod ng mata
• Pagduduwal o pagsusuka
• Pantal o rashes

⚠️ HUWAG MAGPAKAMPANTE.
Mag-ingat sa mga warning signs gaya ng matinding pananakit ng tiyan, paulit-ulit na pagsusuka, pagdurugo, mabilis na paghinga, matinding panghihina, o pagiging balisa/restless. Ang mga ito ay nangangailangan ng agarang medical attention.

🏥 PARA SA ATING MGA ESTUDYANTE AND MGA EMPLEYADO

Kung ikaw ay may lagnat na 2 araw o higit pa, bisitahin ang University Clinic o ang pinakamalapit na hospital/pagamutan para sa tamang assessment at medical advice.

Huwag mag-self-medicate at huwag hintaying lumala ang sintomas bago humingi ng tulong.

🕯️ International AIDS Candlelight Memorial (IACM) 2026 🕯️

Yesterday, Davao Oriental State University joined the global observance of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial (IACM)—a solemn and meaningful ceremony dedicated to remembering those whose lives were lost to AIDS, honoring those living with HIV, and renewing our collective commitment to HIV awareness, prevention, compassion, and action.

More than a memorial, this ceremony serves as a powerful reminder that HIV continues to affect individuals, families, and communities, and that education, understanding, and support remain essential in ending stigma and discrimination.

Through the lighting of candles and messages of hope, the university community stood in solidarity with the global call to remember, educate, advocate, and inspire action. This activity also reinforces the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment where conversations on HIV and AIDS are met with knowledge, empathy, and respect.

As candles were lit, so too was our shared hope—for a future free from stigma, for continued awareness, and for a community that chooses compassion over discrimination. The Office of Health Services extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, partner agencies, faculty, students, volunteers, and supporters—especially the City Health Office STI/HIV Unit headed by Mr. Francis Rhey D. Reancho, R.N., and the personnel under his unit; Mr. Valencio Macaturac, RPO Region XI; BS Development Communication students and their faculty, Mr. Mark Aljen Binocal; BS Nursing students; USMR members; and our supportive university leadership through Dr. Evangeline R. Rivera, Director, ODSAS—for joining hands in this meaningful advocacy and helping keep the message of hope, remembrance, and action alive.

🌡️ HEAT HEALTH ADVISORY 🌡️

With rising temperatures, everyone is advised to take precautions to prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

☀️ Avoid prolonged sun exposure between 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, when heat index is at its highest and most dangerous.

💧 Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you are not thirsty. Avoid sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic drinks.

🧢 Protect yourself:
• Wear light, breathable clothing
• Use umbrellas, hats, or seek shade
• Limit outdoor activities during peak hours

⚠️ Know the signs:

Heat Exhaustion:
• Heavy sweating
• Weakness or dizziness
• Nausea or headache

👉 First Aid:
✔ Move to a cool place
✔ Drink water
✔ Apply cool compress

Heat Stroke (Medical Emergency):
• Very high body temperature
• Confusion or unconsciousness
• Hot, dry skin (or minimal sweating)

🚨 First Aid:
✔ Call for medical help immediately
✔ Move to a cool area
✔ Cool the body (wet cloth, fan, ice packs)

📢 Clinic Advisory: Temporary Operating Hours

Please be informed that the University Clinic will be open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday to Thursday.

The clinic will remain open during the 12:00 NN hour; however, only emergency cases will be attended during this time.

Regular services will resume immediately after.

Everyone is advised to be guided accordingly. Thank you.

📢 Dengue Awareness Advisory

The DOrSU University Clinic would like to inform the university community that three (3) dengue cases among students were recorded in the past two (2) weeks. Most of the students diagnosed with dengue reside in the Martinez Subdivision area. No new dengue cases have been recorded at the University Clinic this week so far.

Nevertheless, everyone is advised to remain vigilant and continue practicing mosquito bite prevention to help reduce the risk of dengue transmission.

⚠️ Common signs and symptoms of dengue include:
• High fever
• Severe headache
• Joint and muscle pain
• Nausea and vomiting
• Skin rash
• Fatigue

❗If fever persists for two (2) days, early consultation is strongly advised.

Students experiencing symptoms may seek consultation at the DOrSU University Clinic or proceed to the City Health Office / DOPMC for proper medical evaluation and management.

🦟 Prevent mosquito bites by:
• Using insect repellent
• Wearing long sleeves and pants when possible
• Eliminating stagnant water in your surroundings
• Keeping living and study areas clean

The DOrSU University Clinic encourages everyone to remain proactive in protecting themselves and the university community from dengue.
