The 48th National Disability Rights Week 2026 ended with a bang! This year’s celebration centered on the theme: "𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕, 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 – 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒄 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑬𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕"

This milestone served as a meaningful platform for learning, dialogue, and advocacy.
Through insightful messages, an engaging panel forum, and interactive discussions with PWD students, faculty, and staff, participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities.

The event also highlighted the creativity and commitment of students through advocacy competitions and contests that showcased artistic talents and promoted disability rights.

This celebration left a powerful reminder that true inclusion is achieved not only by recognizing differences but by creating spaces where everyone is respected, valued, and empowered.

Blueprint for Equity: Building a More Inclusive Future

The Blueprint for Equity: Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) Training and Other Gender and Development (GAD) Capacity-Building Activities was successfully conducted on June 22–23, 2026, at KM 55, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental.

For two meaningful days, participants strengthened their knowledge and competencies in integrating Gender and Development (GAD) principles into institutional policies, programs, projects, and activities. Through insightful discussions, interactive workshops, and collaborative learning, the training reinforced our collective commitment to promoting gender responsiveness, inclusivity, equality, and social justice within the university and the communities we serve.

This activity marks another significant step toward creating a workplace and learning environment where everyone is valued, empowered, and given equal opportunities to thrive.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our resource speakers, facilitators, organizers, and all participants whose active engagement and dedication contributed to the success of this capacity-building initiative.

In a vibrant display of empowerment, the Philippine Normal University Visayas joined the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration last March 18, 2026. Held at the PNU Visayas IMC II, the event brought together a diverse group of community women, including residents and leaders from Barangay Zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The gathering was further enriched by the active participation of representatives from the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) and the Cadiz City Women’s Council.

The celebration was spearheaded by the Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Unit, reflecting the university’s dedication to fostering an environment where every voice is heard. Under the leadership of Ms. Mika Grace Regala and her team of facilitators, the program provided a meaningful space for dialogue and connection.
