Mr. Al-Johan Ilacad, Muslim Campus Minister of the Campus Ministry Office, Senior High School, successfully presented his Research Concept Proposal to the members of the Research Review Committee (RRC).

Mr. Ilacad’s proposed study is titled “𝘼𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙉𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙞𝙢 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙤 𝙙𝙚 𝙕𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮: 𝘼 𝙌𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙮.”

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) through the University Research Office in collaboration with the Center of Information Technology Services (CITS) proudly launched its Online Journal of Publication, the 𝗔𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗼 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 (𝗔𝗝𝗗𝗗), during the Regional Research Conference 2026 held on March 11–12, 2026 at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall (CDCH).

The AJDD is envisioned as a platform for local and global knowledge sharing, promoting research that is data-driven, visible, and highly citable. It seeks to elevate regional research into the national and international realms, strengthening ADZU’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.

𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨

• Submission: Researchers submit manuscripts through the AJDD’s Online Journal System.
• Review: Each submission undergoes a rigorous peer-review process to ensure quality and relevance.
• Acceptance: Accepted papers are formally acknowledged and prepared for publication.
• Publication: Finalized articles are published online, increasing accessibility and visibility to a wider audience.

The AJDD is set to release its maiden publication, Volume 1, in July 2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter in ADZU’s research dissemination efforts. The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) Research Office, under the leadership of Director Perla "Arlene" S. Ledesma, successfully conducted its Year-End Evaluation of the SY 2025–2026 Operational Plan and the crafting of the SY 2026–2027 OPLAN on March 31–April 1, 2026 at the University Research Office Conference Room.

Together with her team—Aleli, Rigel, and Odine—Director Ledesma facilitated a reflective assessment of the office’s performance and accomplishments. The evaluation highlighted strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement, guided by strategies, targets, activities, personnel assignments, budget considerations, and timelines. Individual assessments were complemented by collective reflection, ensuring a comprehensive review of the year’s operations.

The planning phase focused on aligning upcoming activities with the University’s Strategies, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Targets. The team also integrated schedules into the University’s Calendar of Activities and considered the institution’s Vision and Mission, as well as the PAASCU recommendations on Research, in shaping the Operational Plan for SY 2026–2027.

The two-day session concluded with the team agreeing on expected deliverables during their Monday work-from-home schedule, reinforcing their commitment to research excellence and operational efficiency. Grateful for wisdom, guidance, energy, patience, and dedication, the team expressed their resolve to continue fulfilling their responsibilities in accordance with the Ignatian Values of faith, Service, Excellence and Companionship.

The University Research Office (URO) recently concluded its first series of Kapihan Sessions with the HEU. These sessions served as an active platform for initiating research collaborations, nurturing a vibrant research culture and fostering a meaningful partnership among faculty members and research enthusiasts.

The series of sessions provided a space for faculty to brainstorm and share their ideas on potential research topics, issues, and problems. Discussions were rooted in classroom practices, community needs, and global realities that are anchored on their school/college Research Agenda.

Focused on biodiversity, geospatial analysis and medication discovery. These topics are aligned with the department’s Research Agenda.

The sessions with CSITE were facilitated by Arlene S. Ledesma, URO Director, and co-facilitated by Dr. Kreanne F. Diaz for the Mathematics and Natural Sciences groups and Ms. Precious T. Opinion for CS and Engineering clusters. Dr. Diaz is the Chairperson of the Mathematics Department while Ms. Opinion is the Graduate Program Coordinator of the CSITE and a faculty member of the CS and IT Department.

These collaborations were made possible through the support of each HEU Research Coordinator and Dean.

The University Research Office (URO) of Ateneo de Zamboanga University successfully convened scholars, educators, and researchers for the Regional Research Conference 2026, held on March 11–12, 2026 at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, Salvador Campus. The conference brought together researchers, academics, and partner institutions across the region to share insights and strengthen collaboration in advancing research for sustainable development.

The two-day gathering opened with inspiring messages from Fr. Guillrey Anthony M. Andal, SJ, University President, who emphasized the importance of preserving the human dimension in research amid the growing use of artificial intelligence. He highlighted that meaningful research must continue to carry the human touch and soul that drives real impact in society.

Serving as keynote speaker, EnP Leticia Dolores II C. Abao, Regional Director of the Commission on Population and Development – Region IX (CPD-IX), emphasized that research should not remain an end in itself but must be a continuous journey from understanding to action, from curiosity to compassion, and ultimately from theory to impact. She highlighted that the conference theme serves as a call for researchers to ensure that their work moves beyond the pages of journals and into the real world, where it can help transform communities, inform policies, and improve lives.

Across the two days, participants engaged in meaningful dialogue through plenary sessions, parallel research presentations, and open forums covering themes such as education, pedagogy, culture, health, innovation, technology, and inclusivity. The conference also featured a special lecture on Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) by Dr. Paulino T. Acebes Jr., These sessions showcased the diverse research contributions of institutions across the region, strengthening collaboration and knowledge exchange among scholars from various higher education institutions.

In her synthesis, Ms. Perla S. Ledesma, URO Director highlighted the journey of the conference through the lens of the “Four Ps”—Plan, Preparations, Presentations, and Practice. She underscored that while research begins with planning and knowledge sharing, its true value lies in practice—where findings are applied to improve systems, influence policy, and contribute to sustainable development. She also emphasized that research is a continuous process that must integrate multidisciplinary insights and translate them into meaningful action for communities.

As the conference concluded, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the awardees of the Best Paper and Best Presentation Awards, whose outstanding research exemplifies excellence and innovation in their respective fields. We also commend and thank the presenters and participants from partner institutions and other universities whose contributions enriched the discussions and strengthened the spirit of regional academic collaboration.

Through collective scholarship and shared insights, the Regional Research Conference 2026 continues to advance research that transforms theory into meaningful impact for communities and sustainable development.

The University Research Office (URO) proudly recognizes Mr. Eric D. Tubo, Junior High School faculty member, for successfully completing his research entitled: “𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗱𝗭𝗨 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”.

His research, conducted under the AdZU–URO Research Chair Program (RCP), was awarded a ₱50,000.00 cash incentive, tax included, on February 24, 2026.

URO extends its gratitude to his Research Coach, Dr. Teresita G. Montaño, and the Research Review Committee (RRC), Dr. Jocelyn D. Partosa and Dr. Robin A. De Los Reyes, for their guidance and support throughout the research process.

We also express our appreciation to Fr. Roberto M. Boholst, Junior High School Principal, and Ms. Esther Mondido, JHS Research Coordinator, for their continued support of research initiatives in the Junior High School Unit.
