The Department of Political Science, Government College Chitral, announces the successful completion and defense of BS Political Science research dissertations by students of the academic session 2021-2025.

The thesis defense marked a significant academic milestone for the department, reflecting years of sustained effort, critical inquiry, and scholarly commitment. Two student groups formally presented and defended their research work before an academic panel.

The first group, consisting of Afsar Uddin and Junaid Mehmood, presented their research under the supervision of Mr. Hanif Bani Sultan, Lecturer in Pakistan Studies. Their work demonstrated strong analytical depth, conceptual clarity, and rigorous research methodology, earning appreciation from the evaluators.

The second group, comprising Sajad Ali and Abdullah, defended their thesis under the supervision of Mr. Asif Ali, Lecturer in the Department of Political Science. Their presentation reflected sound argumentation, effective use of evidence, and a clear understanding of the research theme.

The defense session was evaluated by Mr. Basharat Hussain, External Examiner from the University of Chitral. His expert assessment and constructive feedback contributed meaningfully to the academic discussion and overall quality of the evaluation process.

The Department of Political Science, Government College Chitral, announces the successful completion and defense of BS Political Science research dissertations by students of the academic session 2021-2025.

Grand Debate between the Department of Political Science, University of Chitral, and the Department of Political Science, Government College Chitral

On 11 December, the corridors of Government Degree College Chitral came alive with thoughtful discussions and confident presentations as the Department of Political Science, Government College Chitral, and the Department of Political Science, University of Chitral held a joint debate on a key constitutional question. Students examined the theme: “26th and 27th Constitutional Amendments in Pakistan: An Assault on Judicial Independence and the Separation of Powers?”

This collaborative event brought together students, and audiences from the University of Chitral for an engaging academic exchange grounded in constitutional analysis and critical reasoning. The atmosphere reflected both enthusiasm and serious scholarly interest.

Positions Presented by Both Panels

PANEL A – GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE CHITRAL
Panel A supported the motion, arguing that the amendments undermine judicial independence and disrupt the balance of power that is essential for a democratic system. Their arguments were well-organized, confidently delivered, and firmly rooted in constitutional principles.

PANEL B - UNIVERSITY OF CHITRAL
Panel B presented a strong rebuttal, emphasizing the role of institutional reform, constitutional adaptability, and broader governance needs. They defended the amendments as necessary for administrative clarity, judicial restructuring, and improved institutional performance.

Both teams demonstrated strong preparation and a solid command of the subject:
• The Political Science Department, University of Chitral, defended its position with clarity and structure.
• The Political Science Department, Government Degree College Chitral, countered with logical, well-reasoned arguments.

The debate was moderated by Asif Ali, Lecturer, Department of Political Science and Coordinator of the College Debating Society, along with Mizail Shah, Head of the Department of Political Science, Government College Chitral.

In closing, sincere thanks are extended to the Political Science Department, University of Chitral, for their participation and cooperation. Appreciation is also due to all students who prepared diligently and contributed to a respectful and meaningful academic dialogue. Their commitment and thoughtful engagement made the event a success.

We are thrilled to announce the graduation of the Class of 2025, as yesterday marked their formal ceremony. A convocation ceremony and formal gathering for the graduating students was held in the main hall of the Public Library. The event was attended by the professors and lecturers of the main and affiliated departments, as well as students of all semesters of Political Science. The program started with a recitation from the Quran. Then, graduating students were asked to present a variety of creative items randomly chosen from a box. Afsar Khan and Rafia Bibi, representing the graduating students, expressed their farewell thoughts and reflections on the time spent at the institution. Each graduating student was called onto the stage to receive their graduation cap and a title indicating his/her unique nature. In the end, Mr. Mirzail Shah, HOD Political Science, delivered his farewell speech to the graduating students, and he bade them a heartfelt farewell. Our department once again congratulates the graduating students and wishes them the best of luck for their future endeavors.

College Debating Society as we held our Annual Prize Distribution and Oath-Taking Ceremony in the Main Hall of Government College Chitral on 20th October,2025 .The event was graciously attended and honored by our respected Principal Professor Siraj Muhammad, along with esteemed faculty members:assistant professor.Sami Ullah (HoD English),lec.Hafiz Ahmad Khan,lec.Abdullah Shahab, lec.Masood Ahmad, lec.Misbah ul Islam,lec. Mirzail Shah (HoD Political Science),lec.Shams Uddin,lec.Elahi Baksh, lec. Asif Ali, lec.Sami Uddin, and lec.Hanif Muhammad.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the National Anthem, setting a solemn and proud tone.Founding President Afsar Uddin presented a powerful and comprehensive presentation highlighting the society's remarkable two-year journey, achievements, and positive impact on student engagement.During the prize distribution segment,18 students from various departments were awarded Appreciation Certificates for their outstanding participation in CDS online event named the debators dairy.Muhib ur Rehman (Urdu Department) was honored with the “Essay of the Year” Award along with a cash prize.The Best Debaters from multiple departments also received recognition. Special awards were presented to the Founding Cabinet Members for their trailblazing contributions as a torch berer.

The highlight of the day was the formal Oath-Taking Ceremony, where the newly elected cabinet, led by President Aqib ul Islam, took charge.The oath was officially administered by Principal Siraj Muhammad, who commended the society’s legacy and congratulated all award recipients and organizers for their dedication and excellence.

Lastly Mr. Asif Ali, Patron-in-Chief of CDS, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Political Science Department and College Debating Society to all attendees, guests, and participants for making the event a story of succes.

Moment of pride for political science department 🥇🏆

Our Political Science Department's students (Afsar Khan and zaka ullah) stellar project, "Rethinking Drug Abuse as a Social Crisis", has clinched the First Position🥇at the much-anticipated two days Drug Awareness Exhibition and seminar, organized by the innovative Quantum Quorum of the Chemistry Department.Students from chemistry ,botney ,zoology and other departments alos participated in this awareness exhibition along with their projects .The event sparked vital conversations on one of society's most pressing issue .

Under the leadership of the student of political science Afsar Khan, who spearheaded the presentation with commanding vision and charisma, alongside the brilliant support of Zaka Ullah, the duo delivered a knockout performance. Afsar's pivotal role in guiding the department's narrative and strategy not only elevated the project but secured this well-deserved victory, blending sharp political analysis with real-world impact to reframe drug abuse as a profound social and governance crisis. Their inspiring delivery turned heads and ignited minds.They received their first position award from the today's seminar speaker Mr Shafi Shifa a SP investigation from police department.what a win for political scientists.

A huge, heartfelt special thanks to the Quantum Quorum team for this groundbreaking initiative. Tackling such an important issue head-on shows true leadership and commitment to awareness. Kudos to everyone involved.let's keep the momentum going for a healthier, more informed tomorrow.
