Karakoram International University (KIU) actively participated in the Technology Impact Showcasing (TIS-2025) event organized under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) at the Pak-China Friendship Center, Islamabad.
Vice Chancellor KIU, Engr. Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, visited the university’s stall, where he interacted with the project team and briefed visitors on KIU’s innovative research initiative — the development of a prototype two-in-one machine that functions as both a hydro-power water pump and an electricity generator. The project, funded by the Technology Development Fund, reflects KIU’s strong commitment to research-driven solutions addressing Pakistan’s energy and irrigation challenges, particularly in rural and off-grid areas.
More than 90 universities from across Pakistan participated in this national-level event. Launched by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the TDF supports research projects with strong industrial and societal impact through funding, mentoring, and commercialization opportunities.
At TIS-2025, KIU highlighted the successful design, fabrication, testing, and demonstration of the hydro-power system, emphasizing its scalability, sustainability, and potential benefits for agriculture and renewable energy production. The project stands as an example of how academic research can translate into practical solutions for real-world problems.
The event provided a valuable platform to strengthen academia-industry linkages, promote knowledge transfer, and explore future collaborative opportunities.
