The Civil Engineering Department at the National Skills University Islamabad is a non-profit public sector academic unit committed to providing quality education and practical skills in civil engineering. The Civil Engineering Technology (CET) department at National Skills University (NSU) is one of its kind in the country, which focuses mainly on developing job-ready skills in students rather tha
n giving theoretical concepts. It offers a four-year degree program in Civil Engineering Technology and short courses, depending on market need, to facilitate all personnel in the said field. The department is well equipped with state-of-the-art modern lab technology, having the latest equipment for surveying, construction materials, fluid mechanics, geotechnical engineering & highway engineering. The CET Department is dedicated to preparing students for diverse roles in engineering design, construction, project management, and infrastructure development. Short courses offered by the department further enhance students' skillsets and employability. To promote leadership and co-curricular engagement, the department has established a Student Chapter of ICE UK Engineers, actively led by CET students. They also play leading roles in university-level societies such as the Literary Society, Gym Club, and the Environment and Sustainability Society. Since 2022, 20+ industrial visits have been organized, giving students valuable exposure to real-world engineering environments. The department has also hosted technical competitions, including the Poster Presentation Competition 2022, where students showcased innovative ideas. To strengthen industry linkages, the department has signed MoUs with major organizations including FWO, NLC, NESPAK, and TIP, creating more opportunities for internships, training, and collaborative projects. • Surveying and Geotechnical Analysis: Students gain expertise in land surveying techniques and geotechnical engineering, essential for site assessment and foundation design.
• Construction Materials Testing: During their degree program, students training includes evaluating construction materials to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
• Hydraulics & Highway Engineering: The curriculum covers fluid behaviour in engineering systems and the principles of highway design and construction.
