Alhamdulillah, the workshop on Pediatric Early Warning System (PEWS) was successfully conducted at NICH. The session was well organized and moderated by Shabana Wazir.
The workshop featured excellent and informative presentations by Saima Yaseen (Nurse Educator), Ms. Saba Boota (Nurse Educator), and Dr. Huma Zafar Gondal (Associate Professor) from the University of Child Health Sciences & Children’s Hospital Lahore, who shared valuable knowledge regarding early detection, timely intervention, and patient safety in pediatric care.
The speakers highlighted the importance of the PEWS tool in identifying early signs of deterioration in children. PEWS plays a vital role in improving communication among healthcare professionals, supporting quick clinical decision-making, reducing complications, and ensuring timely management of patients. Early recognition through PEWS can significantly reduce morbidity and mortality in pediatric patients by preventing delayed treatment and improving patient outcomes.
We were also honored by the presence of our respected guests Dr. Uzma Imam, Dr. Siraunnisa, Dr. Sadaf Asim, and Ms. Unica Akhter. Their support and participation made the session more successful and meaningful.
The workshop included hands-on practice of the PEWS tool, helping participants strengthen their clinical assessment, communication, and decision-making skills in managing deteriorating pediatric patients.
The session was attended by nurses, nursing administration, faculty members, internees, and nursing students, who actively participated throughout the workshop with great enthusiasm and interest. Souvenirs were also distributed to the speakers as a token of appreciation.
A heartfelt thanks to all the speakers, guests, organizers, and participants for making this educational session successful, impactful, and beneficial for improving pediatric patient care and safety.
