You are looking at the most important historical map in the world, drawn by one of my greatest inspirations, the Muslim geographer and veteran traveller Muhammed Al-Idrisi in 1099, who was born in Morocco and died in Sicily Italy. Here are the very cool facts:

- The map was considered the most accurate and best in the world for 4 straight centuries after he died. Before him, all maps were either too small or inaccurate. There is every major city, mountain, sea, and lake on it, and the branches you see are the travel roads, which contain landmarks that guide you like a GPS!

- The way you see the map now, I had to put it upside down, so you can recognize Saudi Arabia in the middle like most maps today. HOWEVER, all maps in the world up to that time had Africa on top. It was the self-centered Europeans who didn't like the fact that they are at the bottom of the world and Africa is on top, so they flipped the map and put themselves at the top centre, and the world has been copying them blindly since then!

- Without Al-Idrisi maps, there would be no Ibn Battuta, no Ibn Khaldun, no Christopher Columbos, and no Vasco da Gama, as he was both the source of information and inspiration for all of them!

If you want to learn more about Al-Idrisi, read his amazing travel book, "The book of pleasant journeys into faraway lands." One day, I will turn it into a course and perhaps, write the sequel once I settle down insha'Allah!

Don't take others opinion as a fact. Now that you are educated, use your own intellect to come to conclusions. Don't believe whatever media throws at you. If you can not do this by reaching at this level then you have no right to blame a common person who is not as fortunate as you are!

A study by K. Anders Ericsson (2006) shows that if you read just 3 books about any one topic, you become from the top 5% experts in the world in that topic. That's because 95% of people didn't read about it. Go do it!

For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: 'If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?' And whenever the answer has been 'No' for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something. Steve Jobs

They look similar, but one cleans your teeth, the other burns your lungs. One is used 5 times a day, the other is wasted 20 times a day on average. One gives you a good breath, the other gives you an awful breath. One contains Barakah, the other contains a poison called ni****ne. One is Sunnah, the other is forbidden. Which one do you choose? "We have shown him both paths." (90:10)

How should we measure a nation's success? A lesson from Bhutan. Read this. I promise you won't regret it!

Most countries around the world measure their success by their GDP (Gross Domestic Product, or in other words, the total amount of money that the country makes in a year).

However, the Kingdom of Bhutan measures their success using a new measure they invented, called the GNH (Gross National Happiness), where every year, the entire country will be surveyed by how happy they are feeling, and also other non-money factors will be included in the calculation, like access to nature, family relationships, etc. The government would then focus on those factors to make people happier, not necessarily richer!

The idea was so phenomenal, that many other countries started to measure their GNH. For example, the US ranks first in GDP, but rank 114 in their happiness, because money doesn't equal happiness when you have many social problems. Costa Rica on the other hand ranks 82 in GDP, but is the world's happiest country, while Bhutan itself ranks 13, and if you visit Costa Rica or Bhutan, you will experience yourself how happy people are feeling!

***LIFE LESSON***
If you try to climb the stairs of life up very quickly, you may end up slipping, falling, and breaking your neck. It's better to take steady but firm steps and get up. However, you can also stay where you are, focus on learning, build an elevator, and use it to take you multiple stories up at once, or sometimes, it could take you to the top at once! There is only one rule to follow: When you take a book you like, make sure to put another used book from your collection. Where are you, the nation of "Iqraa' إقرأ"!
