The Office of the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Karachi, in collaboration with the National Bank of Pakistan, organized a National Financial Literacy Training Program on April 29, 2026, at the Audio Visual Centre.
The program was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Samina Saeed, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Karachi. The session featured Mr. S. M. Shahid Raza, Vice President and Branch Manager of the National Bank of Pakistan, as the keynote speaker. He delivered an insightful lecture on financial literacy, highlighting the importance of financial awareness and responsible financial management in today’s economic environment.
Mr. Haroon, representing the National Bank of Pakistan, conducted an interactive question-and-answer session at the end of the program, engaging participants and addressing their queries.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Suwaibah Qadri, Focal Person of the training program, who appreciated the collaboration and efforts of all stakeholders in making the session successful.

It is with immense pride and a deep sense of accomplishment that I present the first-ever newsletter of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This inaugural edition marks a historic milestone for our faculty. Its release is uniquely significant as it coincides with the completion of the first year of Prof. Dr. Samina Saeed’s tenure as Dean. Over the past twelve months, her dedicated leadership has fostered a vibrant, progressive, and academically enriching environment that has revitalized our scholarly community.

*Students of Political Science Department Visit Women Media Centre*

On April 24, 2026, a delegation of students from the Department of Political Science and Public Policy , University of Karachi, visited the Women Media Centre under the supervision of Dr. Suwaibah Qadri.This visit was part of students training and internship.
During the visit, the students met Ms. Fouzia Shaheen, CEO and Founder of the Women Media Centre, who interacted with them and shared insights into the organization’s mission and work. Ms. Iraj Atiq, Senior Program Manager, also engaged with the students and guided them through the Centre’s activities.
The delegation toured the studio, where students gained practical experience by recording their own segments. They also learned about scriptwriting, studio production, podcasting, and the role of media in empowering women.
The Women Media Centre team conducted interactive sessions, actively engaging students and providing them with valuable exposure to media practices. The Centre also offered internship opportunities to interested students.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Chairman of the Department of Political Science, University of Karachi, appreciated the efforts of Dr. Suwaibah Qadri in organizing this informative visit. He expressed optimism about future collaboration and indicated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the department and the Women Media Centre is likely to be signed in the near future.

The Department of Political Science, University of Karachi, organized a seminar titled _“New Trends in Political Science.”_

*Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali*, Chairman, Department of Political Science, University of Karachi, delivered the welcome address. *Prof. Dr. Ghulam Akbar Mahesar*, Chairman, Department of Political Science, University of Jamshoro, Sindh, graced the occasion as the guest speaker.

In his address, the guest speaker highlighted emerging trends and contemporary developments in the discipline of Political Science. The session witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, followed by an engaging question-and-answer session.

The seminar concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield to the guest speaker as a token of appreciation by *Prof. Dr. Samina Saeed*, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Karachi.
