FUUAST VC Dr. Shinwari's message on the World Labour Day

Vice Chancellor of Federal Urdu University (FUUAST) Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari, has issued a policy vision for Labours and Workers on the occasion of International Labour Day. He said the university is committed to protecting workers’ rights, dignity, respect, and welfare.
He stated that workers are the backbone of the country’s economy and development. Giving them fair rights and proper wages is the responsibility of every institution and society.
Dr. Zabta Shinwari presented a 7-point policy vision. He said workers should not only receive minimum wage set by the government, but also economic security and social respect. He stressed that workers’ health and workplace safety must be ensured. Protecting workers from accidents is also the duty of employers.
He added that all workers, especially those in informal sectors, should have access to pension, insurance and other benefits. He emphasized the need to promote skills, technical training and digital abilities due to changing technology trends.
He also said that women workers and other vulnerable groups must be given equal and safe opportunities. All forms of discrimination should be eliminated. Informal sectors should be brought under legal systems, so workers can get full protection and facilities.
Dr. Shinwari concluded by saying that the real strength of any nation lies in the dignity of its workers.

وائس چانسلر فیڈرل اردو یونیورسٹی ڈاکٹر ضابطہ خان شنواری نے عالمی یوم مزدور کے موقع پر ترقی پزیز ممالک کے محنت کش طبقے کے لئے پالیسی وژن جاری کر دیا۔ انہوں نے مزدور کارکنوں کے حقوق، وقار، عزت نفس اور فلاح و بہبود کیلئے جامعہ اردو کے عزم کو دہرایا۔ ڈاکٹر ضابطہ خان شنواری کا کہنا ہے کہ مزدور ملکی معیشت اور اس کی ترقی میں ریڑھ کی ہڈی کی حیثیت رکھتے ہیں۔ محنت کش طبقے کی عظمت کو تسلیم کرنا اور انہیں مساوی حقوق و اجرت دینا ہر ادارے اور سماج کی ذمہ داری ہے۔
شیخ الجامعہ نے 7 نکاتی پالیسی وژن دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ مزدور کو حکومت کی جانب سے معین کردہ کم از کم اجرت کے علاؤہ معاشی تحفظ اور سماجی تکریم دینا ناگزیر ہے۔ مزدوروں کی صحت عامہ اور پیشہ وارانہ تحفظ کو یقینی بنانا ہم سب کی مشترکہ ذمہ داری ہے۔ مزدوروں کو حادثات سے بچانا بھی آجر کی ذمہ داری میں شامل ہے۔ تمام مزدوروں بالخصوص غیر روایتی شعبے سے وابستہ کارکنوں کے پینشن، بیمہ پالیسی اور دیگر سہولیات کو یقینی بنایا جائے گا۔ ٹیکنالوجی کے تیزی سے بدلتے رجحانات کے پیش نظر ہنر مندی، فنی تربیت اور ڈیجیٹل صلاحیتوں کے فروغ کو ترجیح دی جائے گی۔ خواتین محنت کشوں سمیت کمزور طبقات کو محفوظ اور مساوی مواقع فراہم کیے جائیں گے۔ ہر قسم کے امتیاز کے خاتمے کو یقینی بنایا جائے گا۔ غیر رسمی شعبہ جات کو قانونی دائرے میں لاتے ہوئے کارکنوں کو مکمل تحفظ اور سہولیات فراہم کی جانی چاہیے۔ وائس چانسلر ڈاکٹر ضابطہ خان شنواری نے اپنے پالیسی وژن کو ان الفاظ کے ساتھ جاری کیا کہ "کسی بھی قوم کی اصل طاقت اس کے محنت کشوں کے وقار میں پوشیدہ ہے"
