The CMW students of SHED Institute celebrated Breastfeeding Day to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of breastfeeding. The students discussed proper breastfeeding positions, common myths and facts, and provided practical guidance to mothers in the postnatal ward. Posters were prepared and studets participated in a quiz competition. The activity aimed to promote healthy breastfeeding practices and with a pledge to support mothers in confidently caring for their newborns.

2nd Lamp Lighting Ceremony of SHED Institute of Nursing & Allied Health Sciences
A large number of graduating, newly enrolled, and currently studying students, along with faculty members, attended the ceremony. Distinguished personalities from the field of nursing were also present. Among the notable attendees were the General Secretary of the Foundation, Riaz-ud-Din Noori, CEO of SHED Hospital Arif Saeed, and other officials.
On this occasion, the following personalities were honored with Leadership Shields in recognition of their outstanding services.

SHED ION & AHS enthusiastically celebrated International Nurses Day with novice students on the 13th May 2026 by highlighting the significance, theme, and purpose of this special occasion. Faculty members delivered informative presentations on nursing specialties and the essential attributes required to become a trustworthy nurse. Current statistics regarding nurses in Pakistan and around the world were also shared to enhance students’ understanding of the profession globally.
The Principal further explained this year’s theme and its purpose as introduced by the ICN. To emphasize the importance of effective patient care, faculty members performed a role play demonstrating the value of good communication with patients. The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony by the faculty members. Students thoroughly enjoyed the event and enthusiastically pledged to prepare posters and participate even more actively in future International Nurses Day celebrations.

SHED Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences marked the International Day of the Midwife 2026 with great enthusiasm celebrating the vital role midwives play in improving maternal and newborn health. The event brought together distinguished guests, dedicated faculty members, and passionate students, creating an inspiring environment focused on learning, appreciation, and professional commitment.
The occasion was honored by the presence of Ms. Alia Nasir, PhD Scholar and Principal of Hamdard University College of Nursing, Ms. Fahmida, Vice Principal of the same institution, and Ms. Shirin Rahim, senior faculty member and PhD Scholar from Aga Khan University (AKU SOMAM). Their participation added depth and significance to the celebration, offering students valuable exposure to experienced professionals in the field. A key highlight of the event was the poster exhibition organized by Community Midwifery students. The students prepared and presented informative posters on various topics aligned with their curriculum, reflecting both their academic understanding and their commitment to maternal healthcare. The guests carefully evaluated these presentations, encouraging students and acknowledging their efforts.
Faculty members contributed by introducing the theme of the International Day of the Midwife, elaborating on its purpose and emphasizing the indispensable role midwives play in healthcare systems, particularly in community settings. An informative presentation on the effects, prevention, and management of heat stroke during pregnancy further enriched the event, addressing a highly relevant public health concern.
Adding a personal dimension to the program, students shared their motivations for choosing midwifery as a profession. Their reflections highlighted a deep sense of compassion, service, and dedication to improving maternal and child health outcomes, especially in underserved communities. The event also featured motivational speeches by Ms. Shirin Rahim and Ms. Alia Nasir, who emphasized the importance of midwives in strengthening healthcare systems. Both speakers shared their personal journeys and early experiences working within communities, inspiring students to pursue their careers with passion, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.
To recognize excellence, the best poster presenters were awarded gifts for appreciation. The institute’s principal spoke about importance of digital midwifery & presented tokens of appreciation to the honored guests as a gesture of gratitude for their valuable contributions.
The celebration concluded on a joyful note with a cake-cutting ceremony. The event not only celebrated midwifery day but also reinforced the institute’s commitment to nurturing skilled & compassionate healthcare professionals.
