Where are all mens who are ready to kill the women just because of a random Arabic word on her dress ? How can the culprit possibly receive forgiveness from the victim's family? What prompted the Mullah to apologize if the child wasn't directly affected, and what exactly was he apologizing for? Where does our social contract stand in all of this? Either the state bears responsibility for what happened to the child, or it is completely powerless. In either scenario, it doesn't deserve our allegiance. Our society fails to protect our children, women, and youth, even in the face of atrocities committed by extremists. If we continue to be silent, we are complicit in this cycle of violence. As a citizen of this dysfunctional state, I am deeply ashamed and disillusioned.
