𝑳𝑳𝑴 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑳𝒂𝒘 𝑶𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 – 27 𝑭𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒚 2026

The orientation session for new LLM Commercial Law students was held on 27 February 2026. The session introduced students to the program structure, faculty, academic policies, and research opportunities.

We welcome all students and wish them success in their academic journey.

UMT SLP - School of Law and Policy UMT organized a Poster Presentation and Competition providing a platform for LLM scholars to showcase their research work and enhance their academic and presentation skills. A total of 18 students presented their research posters under the supervision of Dr. Zaheer Ahmad.

The event commenced with the formal inauguration by Ms. Khushbakhat Qaiser, Dean, School of Law Policy, along with Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, Dr Kashif Imran Zaidi, Dr. Hassan Shakeel, Mr. Ali Allaudin, Muhammad Tanveer Aslam and other faculty members. In the opening remarks, Dr Zaheer Ahmad highlighted the significance of research-based learning and the role of poster presentations in developing analytical thinking and effective academic communication. He emphasized the importance of originality, methodological rigor, and practical relevance in student research.

Each student presented and briefly explained their research poster, covering the study objectives, methodology, key findings, and practical implications. The presentations reflected a strong research orientation, clarity of thought, and growing academic confidence among the participants. At the conclusion of the presentations, a jury carefully evaluated and ranked the posters based on predefined criteria. The following students secured positions in different categories:

1. 1st position: Hamna Noor
2. 2nd Position: Muhammad Abid Khan, Raja Waqas Ahmed and Amir Shabbir
3. 3rd Position: Natasha Sohail and Maria Khurshid
4. Best poster presenter: Muhammad Farooq Sadiq, Kashif Ali and Muhammad Mohsan Virk
5. Best Poster by Title: Zohaib Rasheed and Muhammad Azeem
6. Best Graphical Representation: Fazli Mehmood, Ali Ahmad Dawood and Muhammad Zubair
7. Best Poster (Public Choice): Bushra Urooj
8. Best Originality and Innovation: Humna Mushtaq and Muhammad Talha Aziz

In her closing remarks, Ms. Khushbakhat Qaiser appreciated the students’ research outputs and highlighted the importance of student-led research activities. She encouraged continued engagement in academic and policy-relevant research and emphasized that the School of Public Policy (SLP) will continue to support and promote such research-based initiatives to strengthen the research culture within the school. The 3rd SLP National Moot Court Competition 2026 concluded with an electrifying Final Round, marking the culmination of days filled with rigorous legal debate and exceptional advocacy. The University of the Punjab and Lahore School of Law advanced to the Final Round, representing the very best of mooting talent from across the country.
After a closely contested and intellectually stimulating final, the University of the Punjab emerged as the Winner of the 3rd SLP National Moot Court Competition 2026 🏆. Their performance reflected outstanding legal research, persuasive advocacy, and courtroom confidence.
That said, all participants are winners — each team demonstrated remarkable commitment, skill, and academic excellence. The competition stood as a celebration of learning, professionalism, and the future of the legal fraternity.
By successfully hosting this flagship event once again, SLP has proudly upheld its tradition of organizing large-scale national competitions, reinforcing its role in advancing legal education and contributing meaningfully to academic and professional legal discourse.

On behalf of the School of Law and Policy, UMT, I extend our sincere appreciation to the ADR Initiative as our valued partner for its collaboration and support. We are especially grateful to Honourable Justice Jawad Hassan for his visionary leadership in bringing together such a distinguished and diverse group of judges and experts, making this conference possible. His pioneering work on mandatory mediation sparked thoughtful debate during the panels and added great intellectual value to the discussions.

The School of Law and Policy (SLP), University of Management and Technology (UMT), successfully organized the 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐋.𝐁 (𝟓-𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 (𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏) 𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 at the SLP premises. This event marked a significant milestone as, for the very first time, external legal experts were invited to conduct and evaluate the viva voce examinations of students.

The 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐚 is a mandatory academic requirement of the LL.B (5-Year) program, designed to assess the practical exposure and professional learning gained by students during their eight-week internship in courts, law firms, corporate organizations, and legal institutions. The viva provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their professional experiences, showcase their skills, and receive constructive feedback from seasoned practitioners.

The inclusion of external examiners added great value to the process, ensuring transparency, credibility, and a professional benchmark for evaluating student performance.

The event was not only an academic exercise but also an important step towards strengthening SLP’s vision of producing competent and practice-ready legal professionals. The engagement of external experts reflects SLP’s commitment to aligning its academic programs with professional standards and equipping its graduates with the skills required to meet the challenges of the legal profession.
