Sir Syed Ahmad khan was the first one to take the initiative to plan and spread education. His aim was to introduce the latest knnowledge along with the religious education. The Student from the Aligarh University played a vital role in the Pakistan Movement. In March 1884, some Muslim philanthropists guided by the spirit of national welfare laid the foundation of an organization, named Anjuman Hi
mayat-e-Islam in Lahore. Its objective was to impart and train the Muslim youth with the Religious as well as western education. In this way, Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam established many schools for boys and girls in Punjab. Later on with the cooperation of these generous and courageous people, a network of Anjuman' s School and colleges was laid. The students from these educational institution were the pioneers in the Pakistan movement and in this way, the trained youth from the institutions of Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam along with the students of Aligarh University, introduced and promoted the ideology of Pakistan, to the Muslims, from Dhaka to Karachi, and under the guidance of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, achieved the goal of the independence movement. In 1972, the government of Pakistan, according to the Marshal Law Regulation No.118 nationalized all the institutions, along with the buildings of Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam, free of cost. But the caravan of the members of Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam, full with the spirit and zest for the betterment of Muslims did not stop, and decided new institutions following the principles Islam the Anjuman has never ignored the importance of education among Muslims as it is said in the Hadis. "It is compulsory for every Muslim man and women to seek knowledge". In this Regard at the top of all the institutions, Himayat-e-Islam Kahawateen College is placed in a beautiful newly constructed building. While the present building was under construction, it was temporarily set up in 1987, in a rented building in Block D, Model Town, Lahore. It remained there for a year and late on shifted to the newly constructed building on 22nd October, 1988, All the science labs were designed and provided with the latest equipment to meet the challenges of the modern education. Since then the cillege has been showing a gradual progress in results of F.A / F.S.c / B.S.c classes. Contemporary societies need good graduates with the acceptable skills, people with the energy and ability to cope in a world that seems forever changing. Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam aims to produce graduates who abreast of later developments in their chosen Professions and who have an ability to contribute to and become leaders in our changing world. The Himayat-e-Islam Khawateen college is one of the fastest growing institutions. It offers students, both academic rigour and a practical application to their learning, recognition of this fact is evident in the rapid increase of the strength of the college. To keep pace with the modern world, in the year 2000, the Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam decided to introduce studies in computer sciences. In this regard classes of I.C.S and B.C.S were started.Three modern air conditioned labs with latest Pentium III & IV computers have been set up for the said classes with an access to highly sophisticated internet linking thus Broadening the horizons to the students of availing day to day advancement in the field of information technology. Despite its developing phase it has already shown remarkable achievements, such as number of trophies and prized won by the English and Urdu debating societies. The Home Economics department has always competed and won prizes in various food competitions, department with its well equipped studios not only bring prizes for college, but is highly praised and acknowledged by all other institutions and hosts inter-class and inter-collegiate competitions of paintings. Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam has the goal to provide students with the most up to date educational opportunities available. In this concern, it is also committed to providing excellent education for all of its students through a comprehensive quality assurance strategy. The results of these efforts can be seen in the plans, for upgrading four departments namely English, Urdu, Fine Arts and Islamiyat, up to post graduate level. The affiliation of B.F.A with the Punjab University is in the process and it is hoped that classes of B.F.A will start with the new academic years. Fine Arts department also offers various short duration diploma courses during summer vacations such as textile designing, Graphics etc. In the recently held convacation of the college on 15th May, 2006, Governor & Chancellor of the Punjab University, Lt. General (R) Khalid Maqbool appreciated the Standard of college and showed his keen interest by advising the college to introduce new carrier oriented studies. In order to enable the female students to become useful and earning members of their families. To comply with the instructions of the governor the college has started I.Com and B.Com classes with the new academic year. It is hoped that soon the college will INSHALLAH start the following disciplines. Visiting professors have been engaged from Punjab University for post graduate classes. All these efforts of the Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam, in the field of education, ensure to produce a strong and young generation who inculcate in them a combination of latest as well as religious knowledge. INSHALLAH, by the Grace of Allah, the students from this institution, guided by the spirit of love, lotality and dedication to serve will be successful in fulfilling the aspirations of nation.
