On the Sagar Veena this raag in its non rhythmic form unfolds ideas more than feelings. The listener's attention moves more towards the sustained musical sound of the instrument.

Bhairav traditionally being a morning raag, creates a connection between the human and the divine of prayer. There are many kinds of Bhairav - Ahir Bhairav, Nat Bhairav, Shiva Bhairav and Bangla Bhairav. This rendering lacks the acute mood of the raag. The known bandishes are set in definite rhythmic cycles and have a lot more vigour to them.
