A common mistake in results writing is treating the p-value like the main story: “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦…” and then stopping there.

What readers actually need is simple:
1. What changed? Which group was higher/lower, or which variable increased/decreased?
2. How big was the change? What are the actual means, percentages, difference, or effect size (if you have it)?
3. What direction did it go? Don’t make your readers guess.

Example: instead of “There was a significant difference,” write:
“Group A scored higher than Group B (M = __ vs __), a difference of __.”

Significance tells you whether the pattern is likely not due to chance in your sample. It doesn’t tell you whether the change is meaningful. Your job is to show the size and direction so the reader can judge it.
