ππ¨ππ¬ ππππ ππππππ«?
Itβs a very common Question. Letβs address this question in simple words.
In case of MS/M.Phil admissions, every department and institution around the world requires you to submit your academic record. Let me summarize whether GPA matters or not in bullet points below;

β’ It matters if you are going to apply for higher studies when you do not have research experience. Universities in Pakistan and across the Globe will first of all look at your cGPA if you do not have research experience yet.
β’ During your application process for MS studies in Pakistan, you will most likely have to appear for entry Test. Once you qualify the Entrance Test, merit is usually calculated by assuming some percentage of your Test Score as well as BS cGPA.
β’ Some people might consider, writing a good SOP, Motivation Letter and Publishing Papers. Yes, but even in that case, a good cGPA improves your profile and increases your chances of winning a scholarship.
β’ Once you develop your profile, like publish some papers, score reasonable bands in IELTS or secure your admission in MS. Your BS cGPA might become less relevant, but it is still worth it.

β’ If you do not plan on pursuing an academic career and think you are going to shift your career in some other direction. But even in that case, you wonβt regret having a good cGPA.
β’ If you think you are super genius. Indeed there are one or two students in every session who make it to good institutes even with a moderate cGPA. But if you ask them how?, they might have a reasonably high score in entrance test or published papers but they will now try hard to have a good cGPA in MS. So!
Thank you!
