Governance & Policy Project Merged Areas The project is financed through Pakistan Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF). Component III through Directorate for Post Crisis Needs Assessment (PCNA).

Governance & Policy Project (GPP), Merged Areas was launched to “Strengthen the capacity of staff in the Merged Areas to manage public resources, and improve accountability in the delivery of public services”. 26 Participants of departments from Malakand, Swat, shangla, Buner and Bajaur participated in 6th Session of two days long training at Swat on GIS Decision Support System of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Mr. Imran Zahoor, Coordinator GPP Merged Areas formally concluded the training session.

Training was arranged by Governance & Policy Project Merged Areas in collaboration with GIS Hub Planning and Development Department under Component II of project focusing strengthening Public Invest Management in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mr. Amir Ali Shah, ADC Dir Upper graced the occasion to host a training as chief guest at Dir Upper. The training was organized by GIS Hub, Planning and Development Department with the support of Governance & Policy Project for Merged Districts to train the line departments on GIS Decision Support System.

This system is currently in use to collect GIS data of all the departments and then to use the same for improved decision making, avoid duplication of work, and informed decisions in the appraisal process of ADP schemes.
In this phase, 27 trainees of the line departments from Upper Chitral, Lower Chitral, Upper Dir, and Lower Dir participated in a two days long training.

Mr. Imran Khan (Senior Sector Specialist) and Ms. Marlene Schild (Portfolio Manager), the KFW delegates visited Planning & Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Delegates were briefed about achievements made by the Governance & Policy Project in Merged Areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the chairmanship of Chief Economist Mr. Muhammad Ali Asghar. Later delegation visited GIS-HUB to view demonstration of GIS decision Support System, meet key officials of Finance Department. Governance & Policy Project for Merged Areas is implementing "Capacity Building Program for Drawing and Disbursement Officers (DDOs) training approximately 625 DDOs working in the merged areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa". The objective of the program is "to Increase Transparency and Accountability in use of public resources for effective scrutiny, budget ex*****on and management oversight".
