Two More Scholars Earn PhD Degrees in Physics at UPR
Ahsan Irshad and Imran Khan Strengthen the Department’s Research Legacy

Rawalakot, October 30, 2025 — The Department of Physics, University of Poonch Rawalakot, added another proud chapter to its academic achievements as two scholars, Ahsan Irshad and Imran Khan, successfully defended their PhD theses, marking a new milestone in the department’s growing culture of research excellence.

Both researchers presented their work before a panel of external examiners, senior faculty members, and students. Their presentations were widely appreciated for their clarity, originality, and scientific depth.

Dr. Ahsan Irshad, supervised by Dr. Ghulam Asghar and Dr. Mehboob Alam, completed his PhD in the field of plasmonic and metamaterials, contributing valuable insights through several publications in reputed international journals.

Dr. Imran Khan, under the supervision of Dr. Mian Akif Safeen, conducted his research on supercapacitors, producing multiple high-impact papers and contributing to HEC-funded projects.

The defense sessions were held in the Physics Department’s Seminar Hall and attended by faculty members, research scholars, and students. The event concluded with appreciation for both scholars’ contributions and acknowledgment of their role in enhancing the university’s research profile.

With these achievements, the Department of Physics has now produced four PhD graduates, reflecting its steady progress toward research excellence and academic growth at UPR.
