RWU, Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif, participated in the launch ceremony of “Youth for Humanity”, an initiative of the Governor of Punjab, Hon’ble Sardar Saleem Haider Khan.
On the occasion, RWU and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society signed an MoU to establish a framework for collaboration on youth-focused humanitarian and community initiatives.

A delegation of RWU students, led by Dr. Amber Sarwar, Head of the Department, Computer Science, and Dr. Zahida Ilyas, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, under the supervision of the Directorate of Student Affairs, participated in the China-Pakistan Youth Forum: "Echo – Youth in Action" held at the HEC, Islamabad on August 24, 2026.
The forum commemorated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (S.I.), Chairman, HEC, and Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq (S.I.), Executive Director, HEC as key speakers.
The program featured the screening of China Media Group's documentary "Echo", which showcased the experiences of Pakistani students studying in China along with remarks from their Chinese teachers, reflecting the strong academic and cultural ties between the two countries. RWU students also had the valuable opportunity to interact with Chinese students studying in Pakistan.

A delegation of students from Rawalpindi Women University, under the supervision of the Directorate of Student Affairs, and led by Dr. Zahida Ilyas, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, participated in a session on "Career Development & Business Succession for the Next Generation". The session was organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on August 11, 2026 in connection with International Youth Day.
The session featured Mr. Parvez Abbasi, Founder of AdVentures, as the Guest Speaker, while Ms. Nazneen Raja, Chairperson of the RCCI Standing Committee on Youth Empowerment, presided over the event.
This initiative reflects Rawalpindi Women University's commitment to empowering its students through meaningful industry engagement and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, by promoting lifelong learning opportunities and career readiness, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by encouraging employability, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic participation, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration between academia and the business community to foster youth development.

RWU students, Inshra Naeem (BS Physics) and Samreen Shahid (BS Mathematics), under the supervision of Directorate of Student Affairs, participated in the seven-day Uraan YPDC Fellowship Training from August 12–18, 2026, initiated by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Government of Pakistan.
The fellowship focused on leadership, teamwork, communication, community engagement, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC), drug misuse and abuse, government policies, digital SBC, and awareness of key social issues. Participants were encouraged to identify challenges in their communities and develop practical solutions through awareness campaigns and community-based initiatives.
The closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, who appreciated the participants’ commitment to leadership and community development.

RWU Green Youth Movement (GYM) members Amna Ejaz and Ammara Batool participated in the three-day TAYAAR (Training Adolescents and Youth for Action & Resilience) training held from August 11–13, 2026, at the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Islamabad.
The training, organized by School of Leadership Foundation in collaboration with UNICEF & Youth Club, covered disaster preparedness, emergency response, CPR, first aid, fire & flood safety, teamwork, and crisis management, along with an insightful visit to National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC).

Rawalpindi Women University marked Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with a dignified ceremony that brought together the spirit of patriotism, national responsibility and a renewed commitment to the country’s progress. The celebrations featured a Guard of Honour, flag hoisting, the national anthem, prayers for the country’s peace and prosperity, the unveiling of the university’s new anthem, a cake-cutting ceremony and a tree plantation drive.
The ceremony commenced with a Guard of Honour presented to Vice Chancellor RWU, Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif, followed by the hoisting of the national flag. The national anthem was played as participants joined in the patriotic spirit, while special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress and prosperity.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif said Pakistan’s independence was achieved through the sacrifices, courage, determination and faith of those who struggled for the creation of the country. She said independence was not merely a historic achievement but carried with it the enduring responsibility to build a strong, prosperous and dignified Pakistan.
Drawing on more than three decades of experience in teaching, research and university administration, the Vice Chancellor emphasised that education remains one of the most powerful foundations of national development. She said universities must go beyond producing graduates and focus on developing knowledge, character, critical thinking, leadership and a strong sense of responsible citizenship.
Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif particularly highlighted the role of women’s education in national development, saying that educating women means strengthening Pakistan’s human capital and creating stronger families and communities. She said the young women of today must be prepared not merely to participate in Pakistan’s future but to shape it as leaders, decision-makers and architects of national progress.
Referring to the educational vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, she said knowledge, character, discipline, confidence and a sense of responsibility were essential to building a strong nation. She reaffirmed that Rawalpindi Women University would continue to contribute to national development through education, research, innovation, character building and the empowerment of women.
The ceremony concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to playing their part in Pakistan’s progress, peace, stability and prosperity and to carrying forward the vision and sacrifices of the founders of Pakistan.

Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the participants. In his keynote speech, he emphasized the importance of empowering youth through quality education, innovation, and active participation in nation-building.

Rawalpindi Women University celebrated National Minorities Day with a cake-cutting and certificate distribution ceremony in the presence of Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Zarif.
The ceremony was attended by Heads of Departments, minority faculty members, administrative officers, staff, and students. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that all citizens are equal and deserve equal rights, respect, dignity, and opportunities, reaffirming RWU’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, harmony, and national unity.
During the ceremony, certificates were distributed among the winners of the Essay Writing Competition titled “The Legacy of Valor: Honoring Pakistan’s Minority Heroes” and the Painting Design Competition on the theme “The White in the Flag.” Arooj Fatima (BS Fine Arts) won the Poster Design Competition, while Sawera Raza (BS Chemistry) won the Essay Writing Competition.

An RWU student, under the supervision of the Directorate of Student Affairs, represented Rawalpindi Women University at the National Minority Day 2026 Speech Competition titled “مذہبی اقلیتوں کا کردار اور خدمات، تحریک پاکستان سے قومی تعمیر تک”, held at the University of the Punjab, Lahore.
The competition was organized by Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Department, Govt. of Punjab. Mr. Ramesh Singh Arora, Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Punjab, graced the event as Chief Guest.

A delegation of RWU Student Council, led by Ms. Zerish Gulbaz, Assistant Director Student Affairs, participated in the launching ceremony of Naqoosh-e-Watan National Cultural Narrative held at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Islamabad, on 06 August 2026.
The event brought together distinguished dignitaries, including Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Minister for National Heritage and Culture; Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman Prime Minister's Youth Programme (PMYP); Dr. Muhammad Waqas Saleem, Executive Director, Lok Virsa; Syed Nehal Hashmi, Governor Sindh; Ms. Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training; Dr. Niaz Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC); and Mr. Asad Rehman Gilani, Secretary, National Heritage and Culture Division.
RWU's participation reflects the University's commitment to promoting national identity, cultural heritage, youth engagement and active participation in initiatives that strengthen patriotism, unity, and appreciation of Pakistan's rich cultural diversity.
