Computer Science Students Secure Runner-Up Position in All Pakistan Universities FEST Idea Competition

The Department of Computer Science, CUI Wah Campus, proudly participated in the 3rd All Pakistan Universities FEST Idea Competition held on May 13, 2026 at Rawalpindi Women University. The department was represented by five teams competing among 25 participating teams from universities across the country.

Among the participants, Ms. Fatima Mehboob and Ms. Yumna Yasir, students of the 8th Semester BS Computer Science program, secured the Runner-Up position under the supervision of Dr. Faisal Azam. The team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 along with appreciation certificates in recognition of their innovative idea and outstanding performance.

CUI Wah Campus Hosts First National-Level MTM AI Hackathon

COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Wah Campus hosted the first-ever national-level MTM (Mind-to-Machine) AI Hackathon on May 12, 2026, organized by GDGoC CUI Wah. The event focused on Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and the emerging concept of “Vibe Coding,” challenging participants to design and deploy innovative web applications, mobile applications, and agentic AI systems within limited time constraints using Google’s developer ecosystem. The hackathon brought together teams from eight leading GDGoC chapters across Pakistan, including Institute of Space Technology, the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Air University, University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, Fatima Jinnah Women University, and Institute of Management Sciences. The event served as a platform for innovation, technical collaboration, and cross-institutional learning.

Winning teams were awarded cash prizes, commemorative shields, official Google developer merchandise, and participation certificates, while all participants benefited from networking opportunities and event souvenirs.

Seminar on the Rainfall–Runoff Inundation (RRI) Model
The UNESCO Chair on Knowledge Systems for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), in collaboration with the ICE Students’ Chapter, Department of Civil Engineering, organized a seminar on the Rainfall–Runoff Inundation (RRI) Model on May 13, 2026. The seminar focused on contemporary hydrological modeling techniques for rainfall–runoff analysis, flood inundation assessment, and sustainable water resource management, with particular emphasis on flood risk reduction and environmental sustainability in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.

The event commenced with opening remarks by Engr. Waleed Tariq, who highlighted the collaborative initiatives of the UNESCO Chair in advancing sustainable water management through research, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

The keynote session was delivered by Engr. Sarmad Manzoor, Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering and member of the UNESCO Chair, who provided valuable insights into hydrological modeling, flood forecasting, and disaster mitigation strategies. The speaker also elaborated on the practical applications of the RRI Model in addressing contemporary water management and flood-related challenges.

Participation in Mega Code War 4.0

The students of the Computer Science Department achieved remarkable success at Mega Code War 4.0, a prestigious national-level computing competition organized by HITEC University, Taxila on May 13–14, 2026. More than 50 students from COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Wah Campus participated in diverse competitions, including programming, AI, UI/UX, web development, project exhibitions, debates, and quizzes.

Under the ambassadorship of Fakhir Hassan Shaba and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Khalid Iqbal, Dr. Mamuna Fatima, and Mian Muhammad Talha, the students demonstrated exceptional talent, innovation, and teamwork by securing multiple top positions.
The participating team earned outstanding achievements in various categories:

Fostering Compassion and Community Service: Outreach Visit to Al Ummat Foundation

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with the Outreach Committee, organized a community outreach visit to the Al Ummat Foundation under the supervision of Head, Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr. Arslan Ahmed, Dr. Danish Farooq from Civil Engineering Department and a dedicated group of students.

During the visit, the team engaged with the children through interactive activities, motivational discussions, and meaningful interactions aimed at fostering encouragement and positivity. As part of the initiative, gifts were distributed among the children to bring joy and support to the residents of the foundation.

This visit exemplified the department’s commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and humanitarian service, while encouraging students to actively contribute toward the well-being of society.

Industrial Visit to English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM)

The Department of Management Sciences, CUI, Wah Campus, organized an industrial visit for BBA-8 students to English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM) / Coronet Foods Limited, Hattar, on May 12, 2026.

EBM, makers of the famous Peek Freans brand, is one of Pakistan’s leading food manufacturers, producing popular products such as Sooper, Rio and Gluco biscuits.

The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to concepts studied in “Project Management” and “Production & Operations Management.” Students were welcomed by the factory management, while Mr. Saqib Sohail, Manager Production, briefed them about the company and its operations.

During the tour, students observed production processes, quality control, inventory management, demand forecasting, and project management practices, helping them connect classroom learning with real-world industrial operations.

The visit concluded with a meeting between CUI Wah Campus representatives and EBM management to discuss future collaborations, including internships, guest speaker sessions, seminars, workshops and participation in job fairs and open house events.

Say NO to Drugs & To***co: Choosing a Better Life at CUI Wah Campus

An awareness session on Anti-Drug and Anti-To***co was organized at COMSATS University Islamabad on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Campus Auditorium. The session was delivered by Lt Col Humair Azam (Retd), Director, Counter Narcotics Force, Rawalpindi Division who shared expert insights on drug abuse prevention, to***co control, and the importance of promoting a healthy and responsible lifestyle among youth.

The session was attended by faculty members, staff, and students, particularly from first and final year classes. Participants appreciated the informative and interactive discussion, which highlighted the social, psychological, and legal impacts of substance abuse and emphasized collective responsibility in promoting a drug-free society.

At the conclusion of the session, a souvenir was presented to the guest speaker as a token of appreciation. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Samina Nawab, who acknowledged the valuable contributions of the guest speaker and appreciated the participation of faculty members, staff, and students.
