A wonderful day for Freemasonry in Valencia.

On Saturday 18th July, Brethren gathered at Sociedad Compás in Quesada for the Installation of R.W. Bro. Michael Anthony Shilan as Provincial Grand Master of Valencia. The Ceremony was conducted by M.W. Bro. Shaun Parsons‑Herrera, the Grand Master of Spain, in the presence of representatives from the Grand Lodge of Spain, Provincial Officers and Worshipful Masters from across the Province.

During the event, two further Officers were installed:
• W. Bro. Yuri Aguilar as Deputy Provincial Grand Master
• W. Bro. Carlos Fuertes as Provincial Senior Grand Warden

The Provincial Grand Master paid tribute to his predecessor, R.W. Bro. Rodney Charles Bignell, and reaffirmed the Province’s commitment to supporting local charities and community organisations — a cornerstone of Masonic work in Valencia.

Javéa Lodge No 40 sends its warmest congratulations to the newly installed Officers, and sincere thanks to everyone who attended this special occasion.

What a fantastic night we had at the Jávea Lodge No. 40 Ladies Night on Friday 29th May at the beautiful Salones Carrasco in Jávea.

Over 100 guests joined us for an evening filled with great company, good food and plenty of celebration. We kicked things off with a cava reception accompanied by the brilliant live saxophonist Tania Plahay, setting the perfect tone for the night.

Our Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Kevin Hamilton, welcomed everyone before we enjoyed a delicious three‑course dinner. The traditional Toast to the Ladies was delivered by W. Bro. Barry Rowe, with a lovely response from Nicole Hamilton.

The dance floor soon came alive thanks to The Entertainers, and our raffle — packed with fantastic prizes — added even more excitement.

Most importantly, thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, we raised an amazing 1,500€ in support of Cancer Care Jávea and the new Centro de Marina Alta in Ondara.

A huge thank you to all who joined us and helped make the evening such a success. Nights like this show the true spirit of our community.

What a great day with Kevin Hamilton, the Worshipful Master of Lodge No.40, and his wife Nicole, along with Lodge members, visiting the Llutxent and Monte Santo. This is the home town of the Arenal Deportiva Worshipful Master, Ricardo Estornel. Wonderful scenery, local history explained to us, followed by a delicious homemade paella. Rural Spain at its best.

🌼 St George’s Spring Fête – What a Fantastic Day! 🌼

What a brilliant Saturday we had on 25th April, as more than 50 members, partners and prospective members joined us at the home of W. Bro. Kevin Hamilton for our annual St George’s Spring Fête!

The garden was full of laughter, sunshine and the smell of freshly baked treats — thanks to Bro. Paul Lewis and his wife Miranda, whose cake stall was an absolute show‑stopper. From Salted Caramel Carrot Cake to White Chocolate & Raspberry tray bake, everything disappeared fast (some of us may have gone back twice…).

Visitors browsed the book stall, tested their skills at darts, putting, and the ever‑popular Throw a Euro nearest to the bottle, and took great delight in the chance to throw a wet sponge at the Worshipful Master — all in good fun, of course!

Everyone tucked into hearty traditional food — Steak or Chicken pie, or Sausages with mash, peas and gravy — while the Honesty Bar kept glasses topped up. The afternoon rounded off perfectly with live music from Dave Manhattan, bringing a great atmosphere to a great day.

Best of all, together we raised a fantastic 1,080€ for the Centro de Marina Alta. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, helped out, baked, cooked, organised, and supported.

Here’s to next year’s fête — we’re already looking forward to it! 🌟

A Special Night for Jávea Lodge No. 40

Last night, Wednesday 22nd April, the Brethren of Jávea Lodge No. 40 gathered at the Costa Nova Masonic Centre for a memorable evening filled with ceremony, friendship, and international fellowship.

There was a strong attendance, including visitors from Puerto de Xàbia Lodge No. 58, Oliva La Safor Lodge No. 112, the United Grand Lodge of England, and two Lodges from Antwerp, Belgium. Their presence brought a wonderful sense of unity and shared purpose.

The highlight of the evening was the Initiation of Anders Jonsson, supported by excellent contributions from the officers of Jávea 40 under the leadership of Worshipful Master Kevin Hamilton.

After the meeting, 26 Brethren enjoyed a lively Festive Board. The raffle raised 250€, and the star prize was won by W. Bro. Malcolm March.

In addition, Brethren pledged a further 195€ in sponsorship for 2 members of Jávea Lodge No 40 who will be taking part in the Provincial Skydiving event on 24th May in support of the new Centro de Marina Alta in Ondara.

A unique moment came when the Worshipful Master proposed a toast to all Brethren initiated within the last 10 days — an impressive three new members were present from across the Marina Alta, including the evening’s newly‑made Brother, Anders Jonsson.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a warm and uplifting evening. Freemasonry in the Province of Valencia continues to thrive through shared values, friendship, and a commitment to helping others.

🌟 Crowdfunding Appeal for the Marina Alta Masonic Centre 🌟

There’s a real sense of excitement building around the Centro de Marina Alta. Thanks to the hard work of volunteers from Lodges across the Marina Alta, the refurbishment is moving forward beautifully. In the past few weeks alone, teams have power‑washed the roof, removed damaged flooring, taken down internal walls, and carefully dismantled the suspended ceiling. The transformation is already visible.

Of course, there’s still a long road ahead — especially as we work through the final licences and permissions — but the potential of our new Centre grows clearer every day.

A major milestone is already on the horizon: the Provincial Lodge of Instruction will take place at the Centre on 21 November. And with your help, we hope to complete the next phases and make the full move from Costa Nova by next Spring.

💙 Fundraising Momentum

Since January, Freemasons’ across the Province have been organising events and activities, raising over 24,000€, with another 11,000€ pledged. Your support has been incredible.

But to finish the job — especially the work that requires specialist contractors — we need to keep pushing forward.

💛 Why Your Support Matters

Our vision is ambitious:
• Three Temples
• A Festive Board area
• A bar and catering facility

A Centre that will serve the entire Valencian Masonic community for generations.

To help us reach that goal, we’re launching a Crowdfunding campaign to extend our appeal beyond our immediate Masonic family and into the wider community. Every donation, and every shared link, makes a real difference.

If you can donate — thank you. If you can share the link — thank you.
Your enthusiasm and generosity are the foundation of this project.

🔥 Jávea Freemasons Donate €2,750 to Support Local Volunteer Firefighters 🔥

The Freemasons of Jávea Lodge No. 40 are proud to support the Balcón al Mar Voluntarios Firefighters with a donation of €2,750. The funds were raised throughout 2025 at a series of Lodge social events, thanks to the generosity of our members, families, and friends.

Immediate Past Master W. Bro. Alex Wilkins, along with W. Bro. Ray Guise-Smith, W. Bro. James Morris and W. Bro. Malcolm March, visited the fire station in Jávea to present the cheque to Mark Johnson, Team Leader of the Voluntarios.

Alex said:

“Our Lodge is deeply grateful for the courage and commitment shown by the Voluntarios. Every euro donated comes from the goodwill of our members and friends, and we are delighted to help equip new volunteers who put themselves forward to protect others.”

The donation will be used to purchase essential protective equipment for new recruits. Commander of the Voluntarios, Terry Curran explained:

“This contribution makes a real difference. New jackets, trousers, boots and helmets are vital for the safety of our volunteers. We rely heavily on community backing, and the generosity of Jávea Lodge No. 40 helps ensure our team can operate safely and effectively.”

W. Bro. Alex Wilkins added:

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported our fundraising events throughout 2025. Your generosity has strengthened the safety and resilience of the Jávea community. Charitable giving is a core principle of Freemasonry, and I’m immensely proud of what our Lodge has achieved.”

👏 Thank you to everyone who helped make this donation possible. Together, we continue to support those who protect our community.

What a fantastic afternoon for Jávea Lodge No. 40!

On Sunday 29 March, more than 30 guests joined us at the brilliant Black Flame in Pedreguer for one of our regular Sunday lunches. Everyone enjoyed a classic Sunday Roast dinner, great company, and plenty of laughter.

We’re also delighted to share that the raffle raised €180 in support of our new Masonic Centre. A huge thank‑you to everyone who contributed so generously.

Kevin Hamilton, our Worshipful Master summed it up perfectly:

“These lunches remind us that fellowship is at the heart of Freemasonry. Every shared meal, every conversation, and every act of generosity brings us closer to our vision for the new Centre.”

We look forward to welcoming even more friends, family, and supporters at the next lunch. Community, charity, and good food—what more could you want?
