Assalamu'alaikum wr wb, my fellow brothers and sisters.

I wish to inform all of you that as of Monday, 23rd March, we will cease the provision of ALL prayer items at the Musollah indefinitely, or until the situation is deemed to have improved. The space itself will remain open for use.

This includes the sejadahs, telekungs and other religious material we previously kept for public use.

We do not make this decision lightly, but in considering the current COVID-19 situation. As you all should know by now, the school is also in the midst of disinfection from yesterday to today. With the recent rise in cases globally as well as MUIS' own recommendation on personal prayer kits when going to Masjids, we felt it appropriate for our own Musollah to follow suit.

I implore all of you once more to keep our frontliners, cleaners, the Malaysian workers, and our fellow citizens, in your prayers.

Just as our own M***i has spoken on this matter, we urge all to remember that social responsibility is a religious responsibility. Let's work together and fight against this pandemic, united as one!

Sincerely,
Muhamad Shakir

Assalamu'alaikum wr wb, my fellow brothers and sisters.

If you are not yet aware, MUIS has decided to extend the closure of all Masjids for another NINE days until 26 March 2020, following the recommendation of MOH.

Friday Prayers on 20th March will also be suspended.

After the 26th, and the reopening of mosques, MUIS will be implementing additional measures, one of which is that congregants bring their own personal prayer items (sejadah/telekung).

Read their full media statement here:
https://www.muis.gov.sg/Media/Media-Releases/16-Mar-20-Media-Statement-on-Extension-of-Temporary-Closure-of-Mosques

Regarding our own Musollah, we have limited the amount of telekung, kain pelikat and sejadah. We will also be increasing the frequency of the laundry rate. If you wish to contribute to the upkeep of the Musollah, please feel free to contact us through our Instagram.

Again, we advise all users of the Musollah to bring their own prayer items.

These may be troubling times but Insya'Allah, with the unity and social responsibility required of every Muslim individual, we can adjust accordingly for the betterment of our entire society. Salam Maghrib everyone.

Sincerely,
Muhamad Shakir

Media Statement on Extension of Temporary Closure of Mosques

13/03/2020

Assalamu'alaikum wr wb, everyone.

As many of you may already know, it has officially been announced that all Masjid in Singapore will be closed for at least the next five days, effective from today, 13th March.

Our musollah at Block A will still be open for use as per normal. However, we will be limitting the number of telekung and kain available for use. Hence, we would like to recommend to all our brothers and sisters that,
1) users bring their own prayer materials if they wish to be extra careful
2) sanitise their hands after prayer (a hand sanitiser on the shoe rack has already been placed for use)
3) avoid physical handshakes for the time being

Prayer materials available in the musollah will be washed more thoroughly. We assure you that we will maintain the cleanliness of the musollah, in these worrying times.

All Masjid activities for the following two weeks are also suspended (till 27th march).

Previously, there had also been a spate of screenshots and whatsapp messages spread around regarding the closures of our mosques. We hope to remind everyone to be socially responsible and be wary of spreading information that has not yet been confirmed or announced through official channels.

Let us all make sincere du'a for these troubling times to pass; for strength and safety for our cleaners, our healthcare workers, and others on the frontlines; and for all those already affected by the disease around the world.

Salam Juma'ah and may you all have a blessed weekend.

Wassalamu'alaikum wr wb,
Muhamad Shakir
