From the classroom to the international stage, our students and alumni have come a long way. And now, it's time to shine 🌟

We are proudly cheering on Arfan Amirun, Charmaine Lee, Shafriel Nur Iman, and alumna Nur Fatimah, as they get ready to represent Team Singapore at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. From Hotel Reception and Restaurant Service to Rail Vehicle Technology and Unmanned Aerial Systems, they are giving their all across four skill categories. 🏆

Behind every competitor is our team of coaches who believed in them and pushed them further than they thought possible. A huge shoutout to Khairul Anshar, Khairul Rusydi, Suhaila Ismail, and Yenny Zein for the hours of guidance, grit, and dedication that got them here. 🤝

At the Send-off Ceremony, our Principal & CEO, Ms Jeanne Liew, was there to cheer them on, celebrating how far they have come and how much further they will go. 💚

From RP to the international stage. 🌏

Made up of Republic Polytechnic School of Engineering - RP SEG students and alumni, the Merlion 20 drone soccer team represented Singapore in July at the FIDA Intercontinental Cup 2026, held in Songdo, South Korea. They earned their place on the national team by defending their 1st-place title at the Drone Soccer Championship 2026, held by the Association of Drone Soccer Singapore. 🇸🇬

Merlion 20 competed against 14 national teams from around the world. They finished 5th — a result the team is proud of, reflecting months of hard work and dedication.

“Drone soccer is a true team sport,” says team leader Aeron Haw. “Without everyone's trust, communication, and teamwork, I don't think we could have achieved something this meaningful.”

As the only female player on Singapore's national drone soccer team, Sharveena Nantha Kumar sees every competition as a chance to challenge stereotypes and inspire more women to take up male-dominated sports with confidence. “Being able to represent both RP and Singapore while breaking these barriers has made every competition even more meaningful,” she shares.

For Ryan Chiang, the people around him carried him through the toughest moments. “There were times I really wanted to give up, but my teammates didn’t look away,” he shares. “They encouraged me and reminded me why I should keep going. That helped me stay positive even when things got difficult.” 🤝

A huge shoutout to coaches — Mr Jason Yap, Mr Ong Lee Weng, and Ms Tan Zhen Ling — and to our club teams, who flew the RP flag in the Club Class 20 category. Republic Ospreys made history as the only non-Korean team to reach the semi-finals, finishing 4th out of 45 clubs. The Republic Hornets and Republic Ravens also gained valuable international experience, finishing 25th and 36th. Well done to all! 🏆

A huge congratulations to our RP Drone Soccer Team for their outstanding participation in the Malaysia-Singapore Drone Soccer Friendship Cup!

Team ARTEX delivered an excellent performance throughout the tournament and emerged as champions after a closely contested final. Facing talented teams from both Singapore and Malaysia, our students demonstrated teamwork, resilience and composure, eventually securing victory in a third-round tie-breaker.

Special congratulations to Team Vanguards for reaching the quarter-finals, and to Team Rangers and Team Guardians for making their competition debut and gaining valuable experience on the international stage.

Beyond the results, the Friendship Cup provided a wonderful opportunity for students to connect, learn from one another and celebrate their shared passion for drone soccer.

As we celebrate our nation’s birthday today, we have double the reason to cheer here at the School of Engineering!

Congratulations to our lecturers for being conferred the 2026 National Day Awards! They join 18 other Republic Polytechnic colleagues in receiving this prestigious honour which recognises exceptional merit and service to Singapore.
