The stakeholders of South Sudan General students Union held a meeting today at ministry of higher education, chaired by Hon . Gabriel Changon Chang, the minister of higher education science and technology and the chairman of national council of higher education. The meeting was successful as it focus on the review, update and fixing the day for long awaited convention of South Sudan General students Union. However the following resolutions were passed.
1. That the convention should take place on the 6th to 7th April 2022 at freedom Hall
2. It will be only attended by the verified 92 delegates only.
3.The graduates shall not be a part of the convention.

Press statement.
The office of the steering committee for south Sudan general students Union had just learned with great dismay that,there are criminals who are giving the public a great misinformation about the affairs of South Sudan General students Union.
The group of criminals have divided themselves into two groups, there are those who called themselves head of delegates, and the other group are called the members of electoral committee formed by the heads of the delegates.

Dear public and students community in the republic of South Sudan. We advice you to discard any information coming from These criminals. We have got only 92 verified delegates and two candidates who have met and passed all the certeria which were set by the ministry of higher education science and technology to guide the election process of South Sudan General students Union. However, the majority of those who are making sobatages are the graduates who were disqualified by the certeria and especially through verification which was under direct responsibility of the ministry of higher education science and technology.

Lastly, we want to assure you, that we are following them closely and it wouldn't take long for the leadership of South Sudan General students Union and ministry of higher education science and technology take legal measure against these criminals .

Update on the status of the date for SSGSU convention and the general affairs.

Subject to the emergency meeting held today,at the premises of the ministry of higher education science and technology,by the stakeholders which include Ministry of higher education science and technology, Central political division of internal security Bureau, Sudan people's liberation movement (SPLM) , national youth union, steering committee for south Sudan general students Union and Electoral committee as well as the appeal committee. The meeting was chaired by Hon. Gabriel Changson Chang, the minister of higher education science and technology.

The meeting resolved the following.
1. Convention to take place on 27th to 28th Nov. 2021 at freedom.
2. It shall only be attended by the verified delegates.
3. Graduates not to be the part of the convention.
4. The Criteria set forth by the electoral committee with respect to qualification for Contestants, i.e graduates , finalists and first years shall not qualify to run for presidency.

Dear delegates to the convention of South Sudan General students Union.

There is misleading information on social media made by those who refused to go for verification.
We want to advise that , the convention is taking place on the 29th- 30th November and 1st of December 2021.
Only the delegates who have did verification will be allow to attend the convention.
No graduates is allow to contest as it is indicated in the requirements set by the electoral committee. if there was any changes made in the requirements set by the electoral committee, they could have done it officially.
Finally, we advice you to wait for the final list of those who did verification and candidates who qualify to contest for presidency of South Sudan General students Union which will be announce officially by the electoral committee.
Hence from here, treat any information being spread on the social media as ill intention to interrupt the planned national convention of South Sudan General students Union.

The office of South Sudan General students Union would like to inform the delegates to the convention of South Sudan General students Union that the leadership of South Sudan General students Union has decided to announced the date of the convention as to be on 22th to 23 Nov.2021 at freedom Hall. This was reached after join meeting chaired by Hon.The minister of higher education science and technology and all the stakeholders.

We are also informing the Honorable delegates to cooperate fully with the leadership of South Sudan General students Union in order to help us organize incredible convention.

In separate note, we are going to announce the members of the electoral committee today, and they will immediately start their work on the coming Monday, next week to steer other process of the elections.

Today, the office of South Sudan General students Union steering committee have received application letter from Mr Khamis Othow Omot , who had express his intention to run South Sudan General students Union presidency in the upcoming convention.
This makes the number of candidates to be five. Four from the university of Juba and One from the university of upper Nile.
