JUBA, June 19, 2026 — His Excellency, President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday held a meeting with Vice President for the Economic Cluster, Dr. James Wani Igga, to discuss critical matters affecting the country and preparations for the upcoming elections.

During the meeting, Dr. Igga welcomed President Kiir and congratulated him on the successful completion of his recent visit to the Bahr el Ghazal region, which drew significant public participation and engagement.

The discussions focused on key national issues and strategies aimed at strengthening stability and governance across the country.

Just In: Former Twic Maryardit youth leader W***y Angok has been released after a brief detention, according to report from a close friend.

Angok was reportedly taken in for questioning by security personnel before being released. The reasons for the questioning were not immediately clear.
However, in recent week, Angok had criticized SPLM party over empty campaigns rather than delivering services to the people.

SPLM Secretary General Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit recently held a high-level meeting with the UNMISS Director of Political Affairs, Ambassador Graham Maitland, to discuss key elements of the nation’s political landscape.

Following the meeting, Ambassador Maitland outlined that the discussions focused on the peace agreement and the conclusion of the transitional period, the essential need for consensus-based dialogue, the necessity for institutional preparedness ahead of upcoming elections, and the importance of working closely with the AU Envoy to help ease the political context.

SPLM SG Cde. Dr. Akol said the SPLM is committed to support the democratic process and ready to participate in the forthcoming elections".
