tre was transferred to the Uganda Communications Commission which changed its name to Uganda Communications Institute, and later to the present name of Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology,
In October 2005, the Institute was established as a public tertiary institution by the Ministry of Education and Sports under the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001. Government having identified the Institute to be of strategic importance in the transformation of the Ugandan society through ICT training and application, the Ministry of Education and Sports In November 2007, transferred the management of the Institute to the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology(MoICT). The Institute offers training in all fields related to the communications sector; including Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology; and Business and Management studies.
