Introducing, our next brother of the week, Carson Hajec!

Favorite Memory:
My favorite FIJI memory would have to be my first time going on an Applebee’s trip after I joined the chapter. There was no particular moment of that dinner than made it so important, but rather the bonding I was able to make with my brothers, most of which are some of my closest friends.

Why FIJI?
When coming to school I never thought I would even think about Greek Life. However, there was something about FIJI that felt different. The culture built up in the chapter felt so genuine. There has been no other organization that allows me to be so authentically myself while also pushing me to be better everyday. 💜

Our chapter would like to introduce this week's FIJI of the week, Jon Roth!

📚Major: electrical engineering and applied mathematics.
🎓Year: Junior.
🦉FIJI Position: fundraising.
🦘Involvement: NASA Robotics.
💜Joined FIJI: spring 2024.

💭Favorite FIJI memory: "It's too hard to pick out one memory specifically. I enjoy all of the spontaneous ideas that come from doing nothing with each other, We've made a Christmas album, went around Akron dressed as pirates, and going to all the football games with letters on our chests."

🤔Why FIJI?: "I joined because I found people that shared interests with me. If there’s something I want to do, there are at least 5 other brothers there right beside me as excited, if not more, to do it. There’s such a great community of people that want to see each other succeed."

OUR HISTORY

The Alpha Omicron chapter of Phi Gamma Delta was chartered on September 27, 1986. Forty-seven men guided by Louis A. “Bud” Mangles (Indiana ’56) began an ambitious Delta Colony. As a colony, AO was distinguished as the leading Fraternity at the University of Akron when it received the Dean’s Cup in 1987. The chapter has been awarded the Dean’s Cup sixteen times. After only four years as a chapter, AO was awarded Phi Gamma Delta’s most prestigious award on August 13, 1990: The Cheney Cup, for overall chapter excellence. AO holds the record for being the youngest chapter to receive this distinction in the history of FIJI. In 2018, AO was awarded the Owen Cup for greatest improvement in scholarship over the previous year and was runner-up for the Condon Cup for greatest overall improvement.
