UMass Women in Sport Management - WISM Women in Sport Management (WISM) was formed in 1992 to help women acquire the skills, knowledge, networks, and confidence to establish themselves in Sport.

Women in Sport Management (WISM) was formed in 1992 in order to help women in the department, as well as other departments and programs locally, acquire the skills, knowledge, networks, and confidence necessary to establish themselves in what is currently an overwhelmingly male-dominated industry. WISM is available to faculty, graduate students and for men and women inside the Five-College Communi

ty. Through educational and social events, guest speakers, conferences and promotional events, the goal of WISM members is to gain practical knowledge while advancing the role of women in Sport Management. Unfortunately, at the undergraduate level, women account for only 17.5% of the Sport Management majors at UMass. Males also outnumber and out earn females in management positions in the sport industry. To reverse this trend, WISM has decided to under take proactive strategies to recruit women to the major, build their confidence, develop their potential, and provide a solid network of professional women in sport.

KICKBACK WITH MCCORMACK

Come hang out, grab some pizza and Playa Bowls, connect with McCormack faculty, play some lawn games, listen to music, and kick off the new school year at this year’s Kickback with McCormack. Plus, come for a chance to win prizes from Antonio’s Pizza, Tandem Bagel, Flayvors Ice Cream, and more. The event will be held on September 15th from 5:30-7 pm on the Haigis Mall Lawn, right outside of Isenberg. We hope to see you there!

Join us on our trip to Mohegan Sun for a chance to see the CT Sun play in their final season in CT. This event will be for $25 and this includes transportation to Mohegan and back to campus, a game ticket, and networking opportunities.

WISM X BOSTON LEGACY FC

This past Sunday, WISM had the amazing opportunity to watch the Boston Legacy FC win on their home field! We also got the opportunity to tour Gillette stadium, step onto the field, tour corporate suites, and get a behind-the-scenes look at everything that goes into game day!

As our spring semester comes to an end, our final meeting will be on Tuesday (5/5)! For this meeting we will be taking an ice cream trip to Flayvors!

It’s that time of year again! Donations will be accepted for 48 hours starting Wednesday, April 29th at 12:00am and ending at 11:59pm on Thursday, April 30th. We encourage and would greatly appreciate your donation during our power hour from 6-7pm on April 29th. Donations given during this hour provide our club with the opportunity to earn extra funds! Even if you can’t give, please share the word!
