Had an absolute blast at our Stress Management Workshop! 💚

A huge thank you to Jacob Flores for the amazing music—it truly set the tone for a relaxing and uplifting day. And a big shoutout to OBU Sodexo for donating the delicious drinks and desserts! 🍰☕

We had a great turnout, and it was so good to see everyone take time to recharge and connect. Can’t wait to host many more workshops like this!

Back from the NAVUB Conference in Boston 🇺🇸✈️

What an incredible experience connecting with other programs from across the country, learning new strategies, and bringing back fresh ideas to better serve our veterans and service members. From workshops to networking, every moment was about growth and finding new ways to make an even bigger impact.

Now we’re back—and ready to put that knowledge to work 💪

And let us tell you—it was a GOOD one!! We laughed, we met some awesome people, and we had an all-around great time out here at the Jonquil Festival!

BUT don’t even think it’s over yet… because tomorrow we’re coming back even BETTER 😎🔥

More fun. More laughs. More chances to come hang out with us!

Hear ye, hear ye! 📜🇺🇸

The fine folks of Veterans Upward Bound have taken leave of the present day and stepped back in time to commence preparations at the Jonquil Festival at Old Washington State Park!

Our camp is being set with diligence and good spirit, though we confess… the absence of modern contraptions has slowed our labors just a touch 😄

We humbly invite all good people to venture forth and pay us a visit this Friday and Saturday. Come see what VUB is about, share in good company, and perhaps hear a tale or two from the field.

Do not tarry! We shall be awaiting your arrival.

🇺🇸 VETERANS UPWARD BOUND SPOTLIGHT 🇺🇸

Meet Luis Rabadan 👏

Luis is a senior at Henderson State University majoring in Health & Physical Education, with plans to graduate in Fall 2026 and pursue his passion for becoming a teacher and coach.

Beyond the classroom, Luis has proudly served in the Arkansas Army National Guard for over 5 years. His service includes multiple state missions, an international mission to Guatemala, and a deployment in 2023–2024. Throughout his military career, he has earned numerous state and federal awards, including Army Achievement Medals, Army Commendation Medals, and his Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB).

Luis has been part of the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program since the start of his college journey, and his story is a true testament to the impact of this program. VUB has provided him with the support and resources needed to succeed—even while serving overseas.

A special shoutout goes to Ms. Adrienne Shuffield, whose guidance and dedication helped Luis stay on track, continue his education during deployment, and ultimately grow into the leader he is today.

Veterans Upward Bound hit the road to Waldron today, and let me just say—the drive was absolutely beautiful. 🌄

From winding roads and fall colors to warm smiles, we were reminded why we love doing outreach across Arkansas. The people we met in Waldron were nothing short of amazing—welcoming, kind, and eager to learn more about how VUB can support our veterans and service members. 🇺🇸

Thank you, Waldron, for showing us your hospitality. We can’t wait to come back!
