In her Mercer Street studio, a life lived among rocks, bunnies and a rescued puppy named Freddy. We spent an afternoon listening as she spoke about the changing face of SoHo, her long arc as a performance artist, and why she now brings children into work about the ocean and what we’re losing.

Born and bred New Yorker, turning 90 this year, she moves with the same purposeful stride she’s always had.
