degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CACREP Accredited Program) prepares students to enter a variety of occupations in the counseling and mental health field. The program at UNG prepares students to function as counselors in mental health centers, employee assistance programs, psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse treatment programs, private practice, college & university counseling cente
rs, sexual assault agencies, and criminal justice settings (to name only a few). Our students receive a thorough education in theories of counseling and psychotherapy; individual and group counseling; career theory and counseling; human development; counseling ethics, assessment & diagnosis; and the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Students complete their studies with an extensive internship opportunity that provides face-to-face contact with clients.
