Following an inspection of the campus, and communications with state and local agencies about roadway conditions, Reinhardt University will reopen and classes, offices, and activities will operate on a regular schedule on Tuesday, January 27.
Residential students who departed for the weekend, should make plans to return to campus this afternoon.
Travel Precautions – Though windy conditions as well as temperatures rising above freezing will help dry road surfaces, we ask the Reinhardt community to be cautious as icy roads, parking lots, and sidewalks are possible.
Cold Weather Advisory – Extremely cold temperatures will persist through Tuesday, extending the threat for cold-related illnesses and pipe bursts. As you return to campus, please note that winter and cold weather protocols remain in place:
-Bundling Up – Keep warm clothing, hats, gloves, and footwear easily accessible. Remember to dress for warmth, but make sure you wear clothing that you can remove: layers are important! Despite how cold it is outside, the classrooms can be hot, so do not wear something that may prove extremely difficult to take off.
-Dripping Faucets and Opening Cabinet Doors – Allow water to drip from your faucets, especially those facing exterior walls, and open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate and access water pipes as this will lessen the chance that pipes freeze and burst.
-Keeping It Warm – Taking precautions to protect your office and/ or residence hall room/ apartment from frozen or busted pipes by always keeping the heat on.
-Closing Windows – Ensuring all windows are sealed shut.
-Closing Doors – Remember to not prop open exterior doors.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate these challenging winter conditions together. We hope everyone stayed safe and warm and enjoyed our first winter ice storm of 2026. Now it’s time to get back to work and classes.
