A large contingent of GGC students and faculty recently attended the Annual Meeting
of the Georgia Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (GAAFS). All students received the Robert E. Reinert Travel Award from the GAAFS Chapter, which supported their travel to the meeting. Students gave a total of nine presentations (7 poster, 2 oral), attended several professional sessions, and participated in the student-mentor
luncheon during which they engaged with professionals in the field.

Lesley Ramirez (Biology major) won first place for her poster entitled "From Bayous to Backyards: The Red Swamp Crayfish Invasion in Metro Atlanta." Congratulations, Lesley!
