🎓 Congratulations to the Summer 2026 graduates of Morehouse School of Medicine’s Agile Clinical Trials (ACT) Training Program!

Over 16 weeks, this cohort built practical skills and knowledge to prepare for careers in clinical research. As they complete the ACT certificate program, these emerging clinical research professionals are equipped to contribute to research that advances health and expands opportunities to participate in clinical research, particularly in resource-limited communities.

Morehouse School of Medicine recently welcomed elected officials, government staff, healthcare leaders and community partners to campus for two days of meaningful engagement focused on a shared goal: strengthening partnerships to improve health and well-being in the communities we serve.

Through leadership conversations, student engagement and campus tours, participants saw MSM’s mission in action across academic medicine, clinical care, research, maternal and women’s health, community engagement and workforce development.

“Advocacy is about more than legislation and funding. It is about connection, understanding and partnership,” said LaShannon R. Spencer, PhD, MHSA, MPA, vice president of Government Affairs.

These conversations help build trusted relationships, cultivate champions and create opportunities to advance solutions to some of our region’s most pressing healthcare challenges.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us, including our Atrium Health partners, for their continued collaboration as we work together to expand access and improve health outcomes.

💙 More care is coming closer to home.

Morehouse School of Medicine and Atrium Health have received approval to move forward with plans for a new teaching hospital at 675 Metropolitan Parkway SW and a broader network of primary, urgent and specialty care across Central and South Fulton County.

Atrium Health is committing more than $700 million in capital and clinical investment to help address longstanding gaps in access to hospital and emergency care. Plans include a new acute-care hospital with 24/7 emergency services and a Level III trauma center, along with primary care, specialty services, virtual care and more.

Together, we are working to build a stronger, more connected system of care for Atlanta communities and help prepare the next generation of health professionals.

First Look is a one-day service initiative of the Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) degree program designed to provide prospective medical students with support, encouragement and guidance throughout the medical school admissions and matriculation process.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect with MSM students, faculty, staff and alumni, participate in hands-on clinical skills and ethical dilemmas workshops, explore the gross anatomy lab and campus, refine interview and personal statement skills, review for the MCAT and learn from physicians and medical students through panel discussions.

🌟 We’re proud to announce that Barney S. Graham, MD, PhD, will serve as the keynote speaker for Morehouse School of Medicine’s 42nd Convocation and White Coat & Pinning Ceremony!

Dr. Graham is Director of the David Satcher Global Health Equity Institute and professor of Medicine and Microbiology, Biochemistry & Immunology at MSM. An infectious diseases physician and scientist, his groundbreaking work has helped advance vaccines and monoclonal antibodies to prevent or treat RSV, COVID-19 and Ebola.

Join us as we celebrate our newest scholars and welcome them to the Morehouse School of Medicine community on Friday, September 18, at 10 a.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel on the Morehouse College campus.

Last week, Morehouse School of Medicine hosted Truth & Trust in Medicine: A Symposium on the Future of Health Journalism, bringing together healthcare professionals, journalists, educators, communicators, students and community stakeholders to explore the future of health communication.

Across two days, participants discussed ethical storytelling, misinformation, crisis communication, artificial intelligence and ethics, media readiness and the importance of community-centered narratives.

The conversations reinforced an important message: building public trust in medicine requires collaboration across the many professions and communities that shape how health information is understood and shared.

From research questions to research presentations — the 2026 Student Trauma and Resuscitation (STaR) Research Program Symposium celebrated the accomplishments of this year’s participants at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Over eight weeks, medical students from Morehouse School of Medicine and Emory University School of Medicine worked with faculty mentors on research projects addressing critical questions in trauma and resuscitation. Their projects explored topics ranging from traumatic injury in pregnancy and geriatric trauma to spinal cord injuries, vascular trauma and orthopedic surgery.

Congratulations to our 2026 STaR participants on completing the program and sharing their work! We’re proud to support the next generation of physician-researchers.

Day 2 of the NAACFRC 2026 Community-Engaged Research Conference was filled with meaningful conversations, innovative ideas and inspiring collaboration.

Attendees heard from nationally recognized speakers, participated in engaging breakout sessions and explored research focused on early childhood education, economic mobility, family well-being, literacy, mental health and community partnerships. Together, researchers, practitioners and community leaders shared ideas and solutions that can help create brighter futures for children and families.
