UT Jazba

UT Jazba Jazba (pronounced juhz-baa) is The University of Texas's newest co-ed fusion dance team. Contact us: [email protected] What is "fusion"?

Jazba (pronounced juhz-baa) is The University of Texas' newest co-ed fusion dance team. Jazba means "passion" and we strive to celebrate just that through dance, service, and community. By incorporating various styles of dance from around the world, we represent cross-cultural unity. Fusion doesn't just mean that we perform various styles of dance successively. By synthesizing music from different

parts of the world, we create choreography that merges the essence of two completely different dance forms. We look forward to exploring styles such as Bollywood, Hip-Hop, Latin American, Contemporary/Jazz, Classical Indian, Bellydance, as well as Indian Folk dances. Alongside dancing, Jazba is also passionate about service. We plan to grow as individuals by getting involved with the greater Austin, as well as the Global community. While dancing in practices, competing, and serving the community, we will be forming long-lasting relationships that support our lifelong endeavors.

We hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer! Without further ado, here is our long awaited, long overdue goodbye post for the year!! *drumroll*

First, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who has supported us during our 2016-2017 season! Our team would be nowhere without the dear friends, family, fans, liaisons, and exec boards who have taken care of us over this past year.

We are THRILLED to finally present our Bollywood-fusion, gender-swapped take on the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice: the tale of Akash and Zara.

It truly has been a year full of surprises and unforgettable experiences. From North Carolina to California to several shows here in Austin, we’ve been honored to tell our story alongside so many other talented groups and acts. So much can happen in a year. We’ve had such a blast.

Looking to the future.. with many of our team members graduating and having to leave the team for various reasons, Jazba will be taking a break indefinitely, starting this Fall. We may come back to the stage, when the time is right, someday. But one thing we do know for sure: wherever our dancers’ paths may lead, we will remain a family and we will never lose that passion that brought us together.

It was an honor to share the stage with so many other talented Longhorns, and congrats to the teams who placed!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS DANCING QUEEN! Our baby Paayal Jagada is finally 19!! Yes, it's the middle of the night, but we know you don't have the sleep schedule of a normal human being anyway. Through injuries and obstacles, thank you for always going the extra mile for this team, stepping in as team manager, cleaning us, keeping us hype, and reminding us about toes

Our first comp, Dil Se Naach 2017 is coming up in just a few weeks and we need your help - please click the link to learn more about Vibha, a non-profit organization that brings opportunities to underprivileged children in India. We hope you consider donating to this wonderful cause. Every dollar counts!

The team that raises the most money gets some VERY valuable extra tech time. Thanks in advance for your support
