AC4D offers a one year program - held on site (on nights and weekends) in Austin, Texas - emphasizing creative problem solving related to human behavior, through the use of advanced technology and novel approaches to business strategy. The program is ideal for designers, artists, business professionals and technologists with 2-5 years experience doing professional work, or for more seasoned profes

sionals looking to change the trajectory of their careers. Our curriculum includes instruction in ethnography, prototyping, service design, theory, usability testing, and financial company structures.

You’re on a high visibility project trying to make recommendations and stakeholders are pushing back. UX work increasingly requires more than strong ex*****on. It requires the ability to guide strategic conversations, align stakeholders, and influence decisions across teams and organizations.

One of the courses in AC4D’s new Strategic Design program, built for mid-level UX practitioners, focuses on developing creative leadership and stakeholder influence in complex environments. The course will explore how you can facilitate stakeholder alignment, influence the direction of your work, and help teams reach shared understanding.

Students will learn how to influence outcomes without relying on formal authority and navigate the dynamics that often arise when collaborating across teams and disciplines.

AC4D’s new Strategic Design program is built for mid-level UX practitioners who need a proving ground to practice, not more tools. You’re doing work that exceeds your title and know that you’re capable of more.

AC4D is a cohort-based program where peers at similar career stages are working together on real, complex problems over 4-10 months, alongside your job. What typically takes 5–7 years of waiting for the right project or manager, AC4D compresses into structured, intentional practice that produces work you can actually present.

The strategic design track is where you stop executing someone else’s brief and start shaping what gets made. You’re framing ill-defined problems, leading under ambiguity, and building the fluency to lead beyond your role.

Austin Center for Design invites research, design, and strategy professionals to attend Boundaries as Design, a workshop that reframes how we think about boundaries at work.

Rather than rigid rules or personal shortcomings, this session treats boundaries as a design practice that can be prototyped, refined, and strengthened over time. The workshop addresses real workplace pressures while asking an essential question: are we serving others well if we are not first serving ourselves?

Participants will leave with practical tools for creating more sustainable boundaries around time, energy, communication, and responsibility using design metaphors and interactive practice.
