Jadin Wilson’s story is one of persistence, support, and possibility.

A first-generation college student and recent EMCC graduate, Jadin has been named the first Maine community college student to receive the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, a national honor that will help fund up to $55,000 per year as she continues toward a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

At EMCC, Jadin built an extraordinary record as a 4.0 GPA student, Student Senate public relations officer, TRIO Student Support Services participant, and founder of the coding club and cyber security club.

Beyond the titles and achievements, Jadin is a student who kept showing up, kept growing, and found a place where she could become more fully herself.

“I had a great experience at EMCC. This is where I blossomed,” Jadin said.

We are so proud of Jadin and grateful to have been part of the place where her confidence, leadership, and future took root.

The strongest lessons do not always fit neatly inside a syllabus.

EMCC welding students had the chance to learn from two alumni who know what it takes to turn classroom skills into career-ready craftsmanship. Dalton Rossignol ’22, Welding Lead at Steel Pro, and Johnnie Tofani ’09, Quality Control Inspector at Steel Pro, returned to campus to work directly with students on skills that go beyond the standard curriculum.

For students preparing to enter the workforce, that kind of insight matters. It is one thing to practice a weld. It is another to understand what employers look for, how quality is measured, and how small details can shape the work that comes next.

Students came in on their own time to take part, showing the kind of commitment that carries far beyond the lab. Thank you to Dalton, Johnnie, and Steel-Pro Incorporated for investing in the next generation of welders.

Congratulations to our newest CDL Class A permit holders.

This is a step toward work that matters across Maine. From moving goods and equipment to supporting local businesses, construction, manufacturing, and everyday supply chains, skilled drivers help keep communities connected.

These students have shown the focus, responsibility, and commitment it takes to begin that path. We’re proud of the work they’ve put in and the impact they are preparing to make on the road ahead.

Last night, we held our annual TRIO Student Support Services banquet, recognizing students for the effort, care, and commitment they bring to their education and to the people around them.

TRIO students show up in ways that matter. They push through challenges, support one another, ask questions, build confidence, and keep moving toward their goals. This banquet is a chance to pause and honor that work, not just the grades or achievements, but the growth behind them.

We were proud to recognize Shawn Johnson and Aiden Knowles as this year’s TRIO Students of the Year, two students who embody determination, perseverance, and passion.

Congratulations to all of the students honored last night. Your drive, kindness, and persistence are worth celebrating.

It was cake week in the freshman culinary labs.

What starts as measuring, mixing, and repetition becomes instinct. Details begin to matter. Presentation starts to tell a story.

From clean cuts to bold toppings, this is where students start figuring out their style and what it takes to pull it off. And yes, quality control was taken very seriously.

Every piece on this table tells a story of time, skill, and care.

Today’s silent auction brought those stories together to support something bigger. The work created by our fine woodworking students is now helping them take the next step, traveling to Atlanta to represent their craft and their education on a national stage through SkillsUSA.

What’s built here doesn’t stay here. It carries forward.
