A big shoutout to our Introduction to Civil Engineering students!
Last week, we hosted a special event where students received their own TI-36X Pro calculators, one of the calculators approved for the FE Exam. These calculators will be valuable tools throughout their engineering studies and beyond.

Campus will be closed today September 1st.

LU Alert: Due to the predicted weather conditions, the Lamar University campus will be closed Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This closure includes all in-person, hybrid, and online classes.

In the event that an additional change to normal operations becomes necessary, notifications will be sent through your LU email, lamar.edu/alerts, Lamar University’s social media sites and an automated phone call will be placed to the number listed in your Self-Server Banner account. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Dreyton Lott to the Lamar University Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Lott brings valuable expertise in construction wetlands, water and wastewater treatment, sustainable waste management, PFAS and Emerging contaminants, and environmental sustainability.

Our Civil & Environmental Engineering Department had the opportunity to give these middle school students a glimpse into the exciting world of engineering.

This past Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting our Advisory Council meeting, and it was such a meaningful experience. We enjoyed connecting with professionals from our community and having great conversations about the future of Civil Engineering at Lamar and how we can continue to better prepare our students for life after graduation.
One of the highlights of the day was taking time to celebrate our students. We were proud to honor a few outstanding individuals and recognize their achievements and hard work, it’s always inspiring to see what they’re accomplishing.
A big thank you to our Advisory Council members for their support, insight, and commitment to our students. We truly value these partnerships and are excited about what’s ahead!
