I graduated from Wake Forest University in 1997 with a BS in Health and Exercise Science, and I earned my teaching certification from Fayetteville State University in 2006. I started my teaching career in Florida in fourth grade, and for the past nine years I've taught fifth grade (all subjects) in San Antonio. Math is my favorite subject to teach, and I hope that all of my students will be math lovers by the end of the year! I'm excited and honored to be a part of the Bertram family! I have two sons, Keegan (12) and Fin (8). Keegan is a seventh grader at Burnet Middle School. He loves to read and play basketball, and he loves all things Under Armour. He's my more serious child who was born an old soul. Fin is a third grader here at our school. He also loves to read, but he plays soccer. He's my silly, sweet, free-spirited child. We have a husky doggy named Dali, and we relocated from San Antonio to escape the city congestion and be here with Kevin, who is a state trooper. Prior to teaching, I spent a year working in the pharmaceutical research field, and I was a Spanish linguist in the 82nd Airborne Division in the US Army. My Spanish is pretty rusty these days, but I do miss jumping out of airplanes. I try to have an occasional adrenaline-inducing adventure to quench my thirst for adventure, and I'm an avid runner.
