Binghamton Universityโ€™s Services for Students with Disabilities is excited to host the inaugural 2026 Launch: Transition to College Access on Friday, October 16, 2026!

This full-day summit will bring together Kโ€“12 educators, transition specialists, school counselors, administrators, higher education professionals, families, and community partners to share strategies and resources that help students with disabilities make a confident transition to college and beyond.

โœ… Practical strategies to strengthen postsecondary transition outcomes
โœ… Tools and resources for students and families

Weโ€™re excited to share this upcoming annual professional learning opportunity! The annual conference will be held October 9, 2026, from 9:00 AMโ€“3:00 PM at Whitney Point High School. The conference will bring together professionals and community partners for a day of learning, connection, and collaboration. Continuing education credits will be available for those who need them.

Facilitated by the National Center for Community Schools, this free, interactive workshop will help your team uncover attendance patterns through root-cause analysis and build a customized action plan.

This week, we are proud to recognize Dean Laura Bronstein, and Social Work professors Youjung Lee and Jackie McGinley, who presented their research at the 23rd IAGG World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics in Amsterdam, Netherlands!

Their work highlights important issues related to aging, intergenerational engagement, and grandparents raising grandchildren across local and global contexts.

Kathleen Fitzmaurice '24, MSW '26 came to Binghamton searching for new opportunities to grow, connect and make a difference. A future social worker and recent graduate of Binghamton University College of Community and Public Affairs, Kathleen was able to participate in local field placements that prepared her to work with K-12 students and apply her coursework to the real world.
