“Pretty Wicked” was more than just a workshop — it was a meaningful conversation about mental health, body image, self-perception, and the impact of the world around us. 💚💗

Yesterday’s session was engaging, interactive, and filled with honest dialogue as we explored how to reframe negative thinking, challenge unrealistic standards, and encourage healthier ways of seeing ourselves and others. From personal reflection to conversations about family, friendships, and community influence, we shared practical ways to help change the narrative surrounding body image and mental wellness.

Workshops like this are important because they create safe spaces for learning, healing, and growth — reminding us that our worth is not defined by society’s expectations.

Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and contributed to such a thoughtful and impactful experience. 💚✨

May Chapter Meeting Recap 🩷💚

Our May chapter meeting was filled with celebration, inspiration, sisterhood, and purpose.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we were honored to spotlight two phenomenal chapter members who are making an impact through entrepreneurship and mental wellness services within our community. Their passion, leadership, and commitment to helping others truly inspired us all.

We also proudly spotlighted one of our YLI scholars who is flourishing as a young entrepreneur, reminding us of the importance of empowering and encouraging the next generation of leaders.

In addition, we celebrated our newest Silver and Golden chapter members, honoring their years of dedicated service, sisterhood, and excellence. Their legacy continues to light the way for future generations.

Members also engaged in a Sisterly Relations activity that brought laughter, connection, and joyful energy, reminding us of the beauty of sisterhood, fellowship, and legacy.

Phi Iota Omega hosted a Health & Wellness Clinic this weekend sponsored by our Generation Next Committee in collaboration with Victory Tabernacle Cogic. From encouraging healthy lifestyles to strengthening our community connections, it was a day filled with health screenings, health education, and fellowship. Our Connection and Social Action Committee also registered 5 citizens to vote! Thank you to everyone who made this event impactful!

And just like that — PIO’s Youth Leadership Institute has come to a close! Our scholars were celebrated with graduation certificates and special gifts from our chapter as they completed a program designed to prepare them to lead with purpose, confidence, and excellence.

Throughout YLI, our youth were exposed to college life, explored various career fields, participated in CPR training and volunteer opportunities, enhanced the environment through gardening and recycling, created vision boards, designed their own T-shirt and even planned their own Sneaker Ball — all while building leadership skills and lifelong connections.

A special thank you to the parents who entrusted us with your children throughout this nearly 4-year journey. Your support, encouragement, and partnership helped make YLI a tremendous success. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to every scholar, volunteer, presenter, PIO member and supporter who contributed along the way.

The future is bright, and we cannot wait to see these young leaders soar!

As a community built on a foundation of strength, leadership, and mutual support, we, Phi Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®️ pause this Memorial Day to acknowledge the brave individuals who have made valiant sacrifices. True leadership is defined by service to others, and today, we remember the ultimate service of those fallen.

We hold their courage in our hearts and extend our gratitude and respect for all who bravely lived and fought for the freedoms we are privileged to uphold every day.

Phi Iota Omega’s final 2026 Scholarship Pop-Up took place at Ramsay High School as we proudly awarded the Stephanie Rice Freeman Scholarship in honor of our charter member and longtime educator.

Chapter President Nikki Seaborn and April Freeman Sibley, daughter of Stephanie Rice Freeman and PIO member, presented the $2,500 scholarship to senior Larissa Belle.

Congratulations, Larissa! We can’t wait to watch you soar in college and beyond.
