This year’s OLL mock trials are in full swing at the law school! Thank you to our partner teachers and schools, law student volunteers, and professors who have graciously volunteered to judge for making this experience possible.

IU Maurer School of Law's Outreach for Legal Literacy program has been teaching elementary school students about law for nearly 30 years.

We loved hosting Mr. Keltner’s class from University last week and are looking forward to hosting the rest of our classes at the law school over the next few weeks for their mock trials!

5th graders in Mr. Keltner’s class went to the Indiana University - Maurer School of Law to engage in their mock trial. Law students have been working all year with the class. Mother/son had a great time together in the judge/bailiff roles. Monroe County Community School Corporation

Parting is such sweet sorrow, but we are ending our 2021-2022 Executive Board spotlights on a high note. Meet Ethan, one of our Directors of Curriculum.

Ethan wanted to be Director of Curriculum for OLL specifically because pre-Maurer, he taught social studies for years. He knew he could bring some of the tips, tricks, and best practices he learned from teaching to all of OLL, rather than just his own classroom. In his free time, Ethan loves to cook and spend time with his cats!

We are so excited to have you on board, Ethan!

Let's cure the Monday blues by introducing another Executive Board member: Collin, our Director of Outreach & External Relations.

Collin wanted to have a role on the Executive Board because OLL was a large part of what initially drew him to Maurer. He has loved working with the students in his class throughout this school year and believes OLL is so valuable because it teaches crucial civic knowledge in a way that cultivates excitement and creativity in the kids. He hopes to use his position to build relationships that foster the growth of OLL and allow the program to reach as many children as possible.

Fun fact: Collin was on board the Ebola cruise ship in 2014 (you can Google it), which was a more interesting fun fact before exposure to a pandemic became a universal experience. Wow! Congrats, Collin. We are so excited to have you on the team.

A wonderful Friday afternoon, another wonderful Executive Board Spotlights!

Today, we are highlighting Mariah, our 2021-2022 Director of Programming. Mariah wanted to be on the Executive Board because of the impact the children in the classroom have had on her over the past year and she wanted to find a way to get involved in making this unique organization even better.

In her position, she hopes to find new ways to connect volunteers to each other, to the teachers, and to the students OLL serves in order to build a stronger community.

A fun fact about Mariah: her great grandpa was a judge in Oklahoma when it was still just Indian Territory! Congrats Mariah, we are so excited to have you on the Executive Board.

Today, we are continuing our 2021-2022 Executive Board Spotlights!

Everyone, meet Noah. While probably famous for his jump rope Tiktoks, we know him as our new Director of Curriculum!

Noah wanted to be Director of Curriculum because he wished to apply the educational strategies and practical knowledge he’d gained from volunteering the past two years to creating an effective curriculum for future OLL members. He hopes to refine our lesson series so he can make a positive impact on both the Bloomington school system and on OLL itself that will last well after he has graduated. We are so lucky to have you on the team, Noah. Congrats!

As promised, starting TODAY we are highlighting our 2021-2022 Executive Board! We are so excited to introduce Madeline, our incoming Director of Internal Relations.

Madeline loved OLL so much she knew wanted to be involved in a leadership capacity. In her position, she hopes to work on building connections and fostering relationships between 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls in OLL!! A fun fact about Madeline: Every year on her birthday she eats cinnamon rolls for breakfast and tacos for dinner (talk about a good birthday!)

OLL cannot wait to see where you take the position, Madeline. Congratulations!
