Congratulations Steve!

Steve McGuire, pictured with BIF President Gordon Hodges, received a Pioneer Award today at the 58th Annual Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) Symposium and Convention. In 1973, Steve was hired by the American Simmental Association to computerize ASA's growing data system. In 1975, he was placed in charge of databasing, registrations, and computer systems. During his decades-long career at ASA, Steve was involved in every major technical advancement in the Association's genetic evaluation program, from its inception through the evolution of International Genetic Solutions. Congratulations to Steve!

Dr. Jackie Atkins, pictured with incoming BIF President Dr. Ken Odde, received a Continuing Service Award today at the 58th Annual Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) Symposium and Convention. Dr. Atkins has been deeply engaged with BIF, serving two terms on the BIF Board of Directors as a breed representative. As Director of Science for ASA, Dr. Atkins has also provided leadership across genetic evaluation, DNA programs, and research initiatives. Congratulations to Dr. Atkins!
