NUSound

NUSound Meetings are Mondays at 7pm in 108 West Village G. NUASA is the first student chapter of the Acoustical Society of America in Boston at Northeastern University.

The purpose of this student chapter is to build a cross-disciplinary community for students who are interested in acoustics and to provide an environment that enables first hand experience and sharing of ideas. As a student-run organization, we strive for the ability to host hands on projects, seminars and audiology talks, and audiology meet-ups. Frequently in class and in lab, we are forced to ju

st find the solution, without understanding the process. NUASA seeks to reintroduce students’ creativity into the equation, and enrich the experience of learning acoustics. Because we know what it is like to simply not have the creative outlet we seek in a field we are interested in. Within the society there are 13 categories of acoustics which include:
• Acoustical Oceanography
• Animal Bioacoustics
• Architectural Acoustics
• Biomedical Ultrasound/ Bio-response to Vibration
• Engineering Acoustics
• Musical Acoustics
• Noise
• Physical Acoustics
• Psychological and Physiological Acoustics
• Signal Processing in Acoustics
• Speech Communication
• Structural Acoustics and Vibration
• Underwater Acoustics
