Dear Kingsborough Students,
As announced by President Schrader during convocation, the College is actively involved in an RFP process to enlist proposals for revamping our existing website (created in 2010). A website committee, chaired by VP Rios, and composed of faculty and staff, was formed to evaluate the needs of our existing website. As a result of the committee’s work, an RFP was created, finalize and submitted to CUNY legal for review and approval.
While the RFP process is under way, the University has mandated, based on an Office of Civil Rights (OCR) filing against CUNY, that colleges have to address an immediate and pressing issue related website accessibility and mobile responsiveness. Hence, we had to embark on a plan to create an interim website that would address these issues while we embark on the full RFP.
The interim website has addressed the accessibility issues, has made the website mobile responsive, will help with current enrollment efforts and has changed the look and feel of the site. The work involved cleaning up and migrating the content from the current site, ensuring that the site is fully mobile responsive and compliant with our OCR commitment, and search engine optimized.
Our ITS team has strived to accomplish all these tasks in record time and are still working on finishing touches. We plan to launch the interim website before the end of this month. We will continue to work after the launch to fix any content conversion issues and add other features to satisfy the needs to all areas of the campus.
We hope this interim website will provide the foundation for the final product which will result from the RFP process. The website committee will continue to provide oversight on the RFP process, and the governance and content management issues.
The new Interim Kingsborough website was launched today, we appreciate your feedback for the new website, please send your updates to [email protected].
